Integrated Structural Concepts typically refers to a design approach or consulting service focusing on structural systems, while Structural Engineer is a licensed professional responsible for designing and analyzing structures. Both roles often overlap in credentials and work environments, but the former emphasizes integrated design solutions, whereas the latter emphasizes engineering analysis and certification.

What are Integrated Structural Concepts?

Integrated Structural Concepts refers to the holistic approach in engineering and architecture where structural systems are designed in close coordination with other building disciplines, such as mechanical, electrical, and architectural design. This concept emphasizes collaboration and the use of advanced tools and methodologies to ensure that structures are safe, efficient, and optimized for performance and sustainability. By integrating various disciplines early in the design process, potential conflicts are minimized and innovative solutions can be implemented, resulting in better project outcomes.

What are some typical projects and team collaborations involved in an Integrated Structural Concepts role?

Professionals working in Integrated Structural Concepts often engage in multidisciplinary projects that require close collaboration with architects, civil engineers, and construction teams. Daily tasks may include reviewing design specifications, conducting structural analysis, and participating in project meetings to ensure that structural solutions align with both aesthetic and functional requirements. The role frequently involves problem-solving sessions to address design challenges and coordinating with various stakeholders throughout a project's lifecycle. This collaborative environment not only fosters learning but also opens up opportunities for career advancement into project management or specialized technical roles.

Job description

About Veev

Veev is leading the transformation of the construction industry with an innovative approach to modular home construction. Veev's prefabricated closed-panel systems allow homes to be assembled efficiently on-site while delivering a more sustainable and higher-quality final product than traditional construction. As a new subsidiary of Lennar, Veev leverages the strength and scale of its parent company while maintaining the speed and disruptive approach of its roots as a Silicon Valley-based startup. Veev has developed a vertically integrated approach that involves multidisciplinary collaboration across real estate, design, development, engineering, manufacturing, and construction.

This role is critical to Veev's mission to transform the construction industry through modern, sustainable, and efficient techniques. In this role, you will directly contribute to the efficiency, sustainability, and quality of modern home construction by leading the development of structural design and building models. Your work will have a tangible impact on Veev's ability to scale operations and drive industry-wide change.

The Role

As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will operate at the intersection of product development and manufacturing, with primary responsibility for integrating structural systems into production-ready designs. You will ensure that R&D innovations are translated into code-compliant, manufacturable, and scalable structural solutions, supporting both new product introduction and ongoing production.

This is a high-ownership role in a fast-paced production environment, requiring the ability to operate across modeling, coordination, and real-time problem solving during active builds. This role is best suited for engineers who are motivated by building real-world systems and seeing their work executed in the field.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate R&D structural solutions into project-specific residential floor plans while maintaining structural intent and design standards.
  • Lead structural validation efforts, applying and adapting existing structural solutions while ensuring compliance with US building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISI) and project-specific requirements.
  • Develop and maintain coordinated Revit models and fabrication-ready documentation, including permit sets, shop drawings, and digital production outputs.
  • Oversee the transfer of engineering data between BIM (Revit) and MCAD (SolidWorks) environments to ensure accuracy and alignment with as-built conditions.
  • Identify and resolve design gaps and cross-disciplinary clashes to ensure a coordinated, production-ready release.
  • Provide hands-on, real-time engineering support during first builds, proactively identifying issues, driving resolution, and closing gaps between design intent and field/fabrication realities.
  • Collaborate with BIM and MCAD teams to develop robust digital assets, project templates, and standardized structural methodologies to improve factory throughput.
  • Provide regular updates to team leads and key stakeholders on task progress, deliverables, and any technical constraints impacting the manufacturing process.
  • Own the development and release of production-ready structural models, drawings, and data packages, ensuring they are fully coordinated, manufacturable, and ready for fabrication and construction.
  • Take on a multi-functional role spanning structural integration, BIM modeling, and production support to ensure successful delivery.
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with evolving inputs, balancing speed and precision to deliver high-quality production outcomes.

Must-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Strong structural analysis skills with a focus on Cold-Formed Steel (CFS) or light-gauge steel framing.
  • Advanced proficiency in Autodesk Revit.
  • Deep understanding of US structural codes (e.g., IBC, ASCE 7, AISI S100) and the ability to prepare calculation packages.
  • Strong understanding of structural coordination with Architectural and MEP systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex engineering concepts to both office-based teams and factory floor personnel.
  • A methodical approach to engineering with a high degree of organization and attention to detail.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5-8 years of relevant experience in structural design, coordination, and integration.

Nice-to-Have Skills and Competencies

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or demonstrated progress toward licensure.
  • Experience in off-site construction, prefabrication, or panelized/modular housing environments.
  • Familiarity with automated fabrication equipment and CNC workflows.
  • Familiarity with SolidWorks and PDM systems to support hardware/system integration.
  • Understanding of design-for-manufacture and assembly (DFMA) principles, with experience optimizing designs for scalable production.
  • Expertise in Navisworks or other advanced clash detection and coordination tools.

Compensation

Offers are based on a combination of experience, skills, and location. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role is $140,000-$180,000 annually for Hayward, CA.

Core Benefits

Veev offers a comprehensive benefits package designed to support the well-being and growth of its employees, including:

  • Paid vacations, sick, and holidays
  • Health benefits, including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with matching contributions

Additional Perks

  • Pre-tax Commuter Account
  • Subsidized EV charging and commuter shuttles (some HQ locations)
  • Growth & Development Opportunities
