Job Summary:
The Director of Marketing & Communications leads the marketing, communications and public relations strategy for The Carlyle in New York. Working closely with the Senior Director, Brand Marketing & Communications, Global, and the Managing Director at The Carlyle, this role brings the brand to life through integrated marketing campaigns, media relations, social media, strategic partnerships, content and events.
As a steward of The Carlyle's presence in New York, the Director cultivates meaningful relationships across media, culture and the luxury community, identifies opportunities that keep The Carlyle culturally relevant, and ensures every touchpoint reflects the distinct character and legacy, strengthening awareness, guest loyalty and commercial performance.
This is a highly collaborative, hands-on leadership role requiring a visible presence within the hotel and active involvement with guests, colleagues, partners and the New York community.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and execute The Carlyle's annual marketing and communications plan in collaboration with the Managing Director and Director of Sales & Marketing, in alignment with hotel business goals and global brand direction.
  • Manage, mentor and develop the Marketing & Communications Manager, providing clear direction, coaching and performance management.
  • Drive public relations and media outreach to strengthen The Carlyle's reputation and visibility locally and globally.
  • Develop and oversee compelling brand storytelling across social media, digital channels, photography, video, the hotel website and marketing collateral.
  • Plan and execute integrated marketing campaigns, partnerships, events and brand activations that drive awareness, guest engagement and revenue.
  • Lead the marketing and communications strategy for The Carlyle's Food & Beverage outlets, driving brand awareness, guest engagement and commercial performance.
  • Identify, negotiate and manage strategic partnerships that enhance the hotel's positioning and commercial objectives.
  • Oversee all brand photography and video production at The Carlyle, ensuring The Carlyle maintains a high-quality library of visual assets that supports marketing and communications.
  • Evaluate and oversee commercial and editorial photography and filming opportunities, ensuring they align with The Carlyle's brand, reputation and operational priorities.
  • Manage external agencies, photographers, creators and other marketing partners and budgets to ensure efficient execution and return on investment.
  • Partner closely with Commercial, Revenue, Food & Beverage and other operating departments to support business priorities through marketing initiatives.
  • Ensure all marketing communications and guest-facing materials reflect Rosewood and The Carlyle brand standards.
  • Monitor campaign performance, media coverage, market trends and competitor activity using insights to optimize future initiatives.
  • Support executive communications, reputation management and crisis communications as required.
  • Represent The Carlyle at industry events, media engagements and key partner activations.
  • Contribute to other projects and responsibilities that support the success of the hotel and evolving business needs.

Required Skills:
  • Strong leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing compelling brand narratives across multiple channels.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with media, key opinion leaders, partners and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to measure personal, interpret data and optimize marketing campaigns.
  • Experience managing agencies, budgets and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Highly collaborative, organized and adaptable, with excellent judgment and attention to detail.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.

Experience:
  • 7 - 10 years of progressive experience in marketing, communications or public relations, including leadership experience.
  • Proven ability to develop and execute integrated marketing and communications strategies across digital, social, public relations, partnerships and brand experiences.
  • Experience developing and executing marketing initiatives for Food & Beverage concepts, including restaurants and bars within a luxury hospitality or lifestyle environment.
  • Demonstrated success in media relations, brand partnerships and content strategy.
  • Background in luxury lifestyle, hospitality, travel or other luxury consumer brands strongly preferred.
  • Experience representing a premium brand and building relationships across the luxury, media and cultural landscape.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supporting executive communications and reputation management preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills in English are required; proficiency in additional languages is an asset.

The annual base salary range for this positon is $130,000 - $150,000
