The Academy for Innovation in Medicine (AIM) is an innovative public STEMM school opening July 2026 for students in 6th and 9 grade and growing to 6 through 12 grade over the next four years. Through a unique partnership with Grady Health System, AIM provides students with rigorous academic preparation grounded in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and medicine, while offering authentic exposure to healthcare careers and real-world applications of learning. Through this partnership, AIM students engage in experiential learning opportunities that connect classroom instruction to clinical, research, and community-based medical environments.

At AIM, the CTAE Health Science Program plays a vital role in preparing students for lifelong wellness and success in healthcare-connected learning. Across all grade bands, students engage in meaningful learning experiences that build foundational knowledge of healthcare science and technology, connect classroom learning to real-world health outcomes, and develop the technical and professional skills needed for career and postsecondary opportunities. Students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning through hands-on practice, data-informed goal setting, reflection, collaboration, and authentic industry-aligned experiences. Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence & STEMM Integration

  • Deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction aligned to the Georgia Standards of Excellence for CTAE Healthcare Science.
  • Teach selected areas of Healthcare Science and Technology, ensuring students develop technical skills, workforce readiness competencies, and foundational clinical knowledge.
  • Integrate STEMM concepts through labs, simulations, projects, and real-world healthcare applications (e.g., anatomy and physiology, patient care, medical terminology, healthcare technology).
  • Design and implement engaging learning experiences that connect classroom instruction to healthcare careers, industry standards, and postsecondary opportunities.
  • Utilize instructional technology and data to support differentiated learning and student progress.


Student Development & Mentorship

  • Foster student leadership, professionalism, and ethical decision-making aligned to healthcare industry expectations.
  • Serve as a mentor and advocate, supporting students’ academic, social-emotional, and career development.
  • Support student participation in HOSA and other healthcare-related activities and competitions, as applicable.
  • Collaborate with counselors and support staff to meet individual student needs and promote student success.


Collaboration & School Culture

  • Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to support interdisciplinary instruction and a cohesive middle and high school program.
  • Contribute to a positive, mission-driven school culture that emphasizes high expectations, engagement, and professional excellence.
  • Participate in professional learning, advisory committees, and program development activities as required.
  • Perform additional duties as may be assigned or required by the CEO, Governing Board, or applicable federal or state requirements.

Qualifications

Required

  • Associate degree or higher in a healthcare related field required; registered nurse or higher preferred.
  • Must hold a current healthcare professional license, registration, or certification that relates to the healthcare field issued by an appropriate governing or regulatory body. Must hold a valid Georgia Healthcare Science Certification or meet qualifications for to apply for the FLD619 certificate with the Georgia Professional Standards Commission.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years of occupational work experience in the healthcare field required; nursing background with one year of long term care experience preferred.

Preferred

  • Experience in project-based learning (PBL) or integrating interdisciplinary STEM/STEMM concepts. Experience teaching high quality, cohesive interdisciplinary units such as IB or EL Education. Experience with dual enrollment models or college-level curriculum preparation.
  • A strong understanding of using data for student improvement
  • A desire to contribute to building a school model from the ground up.
