Overview

Piston Automotive is seeking a Production Plant Superintendent for Second Shift.  5:00PM - 5:30AM/6:30AM Monday-Friday

The Production Plant Superintendent manages all activities related to operations and development of company products by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors on the PM shift. This position will be a Key member of the Plant Leadership Team with integral role in developing and continuously improving the culture.

Responsibilities
  • Continuous improvement activity initiation and involvement.
  • Coordinates manufacturing activities with all other functions and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of manpower and machines/equipment on the designated shift.
  • Supports verification of production schedule, reviewing of performance meters, communication with team (next level FLL).
  • Supports new product launch, manning and training requirements; change management.
  • Supports maintaining operations departmental budgets (maintenance, production, materials, etc. as appropriate).
  • Effective utilization of collective resources in manufacturing (i.e. materials, quality, maintenance, HR, corporate function).
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; and/or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership skills, independent thinking, strong organizational and planning abilities and excellent analytical and problem solving skills are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal, experience as a change agent, problem solving methodologies (8D, 5 Why, etc.) and ability to work with diverse team at all levels within the organization.
  • Intermediate skills in MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Experience leading 50+ people in an assembly operation. Experience with ILVS/JIT/Broadcast environments.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts (Ford Production System, etc.), and knowledge of TS 16949 quality process.
  • Experience working in non-union and union environments.
  • Working in an automotive setting is required.
