The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for a Software Developer Intern to join our Dewar team in our Quincy, MA office located at 4 Batterymarch Park. The projected start date is late August 2026, and the internship will last approximately 3-4 months. As a Software Developer Intern, you will work closely with our development team to support project management, development, and application administration tasks. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in .Net, Angular, SQL, Power BI and more.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to the design, development, testing, and deployment of web applications using technologies such as .NET, Angular, and SQL.
  • Assist in building and optimizing SQL queries, stored procedures, and database structures to support application functionality and reporting needs.
  • Collaborate with the development team to troubleshoot, debug, and resolve software issues across various applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and team discussions to learn best practices and improve code quality.
  • Support the creation and enhancement of Power BI dashboards to deliver actionable insights to business stakeholders.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to understand user requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Help maintain documentation for code, systems, and processes to ensure knowledge sharing and continuity.
  • Engage in Agile development practices, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
  • Take ownership of assigned tasks and deliver high-quality work within established timelines.
  • Perform other development-related duties as needed to support team and business goals.

Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Foundational knowledge of programming languages such as C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, or SQL.
  • Familiarity with web development frameworks and tools (e.g., .NET, Angular, Visual Studio).
  • Understanding of relational databases and basic data modeling concepts.
  • Exposure to version control systems like GitHub or Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team-oriented environment.
  • Self-motivated with a willingness to learn new technologies and development practices.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior internship, co-op, or project experience in software development or application support.
  • Experience working with tools such as SSMS, Jira, Power BI, Power Automate, and GitHub.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and project management practices.
  • Knowledge of RESTful APIs and integration concepts.
  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure (a plus, but not required).
