What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in Insurance Transformation roles?

Professionals in Insurance Transformation often encounter challenges such as navigating legacy systems, managing resistance to change among staff, and aligning technology upgrades with regulatory requirements. These roles require strong project management and communication skills to successfully implement new digital solutions while ensuring minimal disruption to daily operations. Collaborating with cross-functional teams—including IT, compliance, and business units—is crucial for achieving seamless transitions and long-term success.

What is insurance transformation?

Insurance transformation refers to the process where insurance companies adopt new technologies, processes, and business models to improve efficiency, customer experience, and competitiveness. This often involves digitalizing operations, leveraging data analytics, and automating workflows to better meet the changing needs of customers and regulatory environments. The goal is to modernize legacy systems, streamline claims and underwriting, and create innovative insurance products. Successful transformation can help insurers stay relevant in a rapidly evolving industry and respond more quickly to market demands.

Job description

CompassX is a boutique business and technology consulting firm. We help Fortune 500 and high-growth clients deliver their most strategic initiatives, from enterprise transformations to digital and data-driven projects. With over 15 years of proven results, we've expanded across industries including financial services, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, consumer products, and quick service restaurants.

We are honored to be recognized as a three-time winner of Consulting Magazine's Best Boutique Firms to Work For, and previously recognized as a "Best Place to Work" in Southern California and one of INC.'s 5000 fastest-growing private companies in the U.S.

The Role:

Our Business Transformation team works with clients in the Capital Markets and Financial Services industries to solve their most challenging strategic problems.

This could mean leading a business process redesign for a trading desk, implementing new regulatory compliance solutions, or helping a global investment manager modernize client reporting.

This role is ideal for someone with a curious mindset who thrives on solving complex problems, aligning stakeholders, and driving organizational adoption of new processes and technologies. You'll act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders while rolling up your sleeves to deliver solutions that stick.
What You'll Do
  • Conduct business process analysis and design future-state processes for Capital Markets operations, trading, and investment management functions.
  • Lead workshops with stakeholders across trading, operations, compliance, and portfolio management to align requirements and translate them into actionable solutions.
  • Drive process optimization and operating model redesign to improve efficiency, effectiveness, and regulatory compliance.
  • Guide clients from ideation through implementation of new systems, reporting tools, or operational workflows, with a focus on user adoption and sustainable change.
  • Partner with technology teams to ensure business needs are reflected in system design and implementation.
  • Support change management efforts, including training, communications, and adoption strategies, for complex financial products and processes.
What You'll Bring
  • 6+ years of consulting or industry experience in business transformation, solution design, or process optimization.
  • Strong background in business process design, change management, and transformation initiatives.
  • Proven ability to manage stakeholders and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and senior leaders.
  • Experience working with or alongside technology teams, with comfort in bridging business and technical needs.
  • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making and how data informs process design.
  • Knowledge of financial products (derivatives, equities, fixed income, FX, commodities, etc.) and or relevant industries such as investment banking, custody, fund administration, or asset management.
  • A track record of delivering complex projects where organizational adoption was critical to success.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonus
  • PTO, holidays, and sabbatical program
  • Health, dental, vision, and life insurance
  • Retirement plan with company match from day one
  • Learning and professional development support
  • Small-firm culture with direct access to leadership
$150,000 - $190,000 a year
Our consultants say CompassX is a place where they can truly find their own path. As part of a smaller firm, they see the impact of their work, have an identity, and know their voice matters. They value the freedom to take the reins of their careers, shape their client work, and maintain a direct line to leadership.

With CompassX's focus on serving local Southern California clients, consultants not only build lasting relationships but also see the results of their work in the communities where they live.

At CompassX, you won't just follow a path - you'll create one.
