Job description

Intuit is a global technology platform that helps customers and communities overcome their most important financial challenges. Serving over 90 million customers worldwide, we deliver trusted, innovative solutions that power prosperity.

We are seeking a Risk Engineering Manager (M3) to lead the Fintech Risk Platform organization, responsible for defining and executing the company's end-to-end risk technology strategy. This leader will operate at the intersection of engineering, product, and risk leadership to directly influence the company's most critical risk KPIs, including fraud loss rate, risk-related customer churn, approval rates, and overall portfolio health.

This role goes beyond platform ownership, it requires enterprise-level thinking, driving cross-functional alignment, and partnering closely with senior Risk Policy, Product, Finance, and Compliance leaders to ensure that risk decisions optimize both protection and growth. You will lead a multi layered organization of managers and engineers, shaping the long-term architecture, investment strategy, and operating model for risk systems at global scale.

Responsibilities

Enterprise Risk Strategy & Vision
  • Define and own the enterprise risk platform strategy, aligning technology investments with business goals around loss reduction, customer experience, and revenue growth.

  • Partner directly with Risk leadership to co-own and improve north-star KPIs, including:

    • Fraud and credit loss rate

    • Risk-induced churn and customer friction

    • Approval rates and risk-adjusted growth

  • Translate business and risk strategies into multi-year platform, data, and decisioning roadmaps.

  • Drive a holistic risk architecture vision spanning fraud, identity, payments risk, credit risk, and compliance domains.

Execution Excellence & Business Impact
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality execution across a portfolio of risk initiatives, balancing speed, scalability, and regulatory rigor.

  • Establish operating mechanisms to inspect and improve KPI performance, using data-driven approaches to continuously optimize decisioning systems.

  • Lead large-scale, cross-functional programs that directly impact P&L, customer trust, and regulatory outcomes.

  • Drive end-to-end accountability from strategy through delivery, ensuring measurable business outcomes.

Organizational Leadership & Scaling
  • Lead and develop a multi-layered engineering organization, including M2 managers and senior technical leaders.

  • Build a high-performing leadership bench, with strong succession planning and talent development.

  • Foster a culture of ownership, accountability, and business-centric thinking, where teams are deeply connected to risk outcomes-not just system delivery.

  • Align organizational structure and investments to evolving risk priorities and growth opportunities.

Platform & Technology Leadership
  • Guide the evolution of real-time risk decisioning platforms that operate at massive scale with high availability and low latency.

  • Drive adoption of AI/ML-driven risk capabilities, including model lifecycle management, explainability, and feedback loops tied to business KPIs.

  • Champion modern, modular, and extensible architectures that enable rapid experimentation and iteration on risk strategies.

  • Oversee data platform strategy for risk, ensuring high-quality, timely, and compliant data flows across systems.

Cross-Functional & Executive Partnership
  • Act as a trusted technical and strategic advisor to senior executives across Risk, Product, Finance, Compliance, and Legal.

  • Influence company-wide decisions on risk posture, customer experience trade-offs, and investment prioritization.

  • Partner with Finance and Risk teams to forecast, monitor, and optimize loss and churn metrics.

  • Represent the organization in executive reviews, regulatory discussions, and external partnerships.

Operational Excellence & Governance
  • Establish strong governance around risk platform reliability, security, and compliance.

  • Drive operational rigor, including KPI reviews, incident management, and continuous improvement loops.

  • Ensure systems meet global regulatory requirements while maintaining agility and innovation.

Qualifications

Required
  • 15+ years of software engineering experience with 8+ years leading senior leaders and multi-layered organizations.

  • Proven track record of owning and delivering large-scale risk, fraud, payments, or financial platforms.

  • Demonstrated experience influencing business KPIs such as loss rate, approval rate, or customer churn.

  • Strong experience driving enterprise-wide strategy and execution across multiple teams and domains.

  • Deep expertise in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and real-time decisioning systems.

  • Exceptional ability to partner with executive stakeholders and translate between technical and business domains.

Preferred
  • Experience owning or directly influencing risk P&L, fraud loss budgets, or portfolio performance.

  • Background in AI/ML-driven risk systems, including model governance and explainability.

  • Experience operating in highly regulated financial environments.

  • MBA or advanced degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
