Responsibilities
At PJT Partners, we value a robust risk culture and a strategic approach to risk management. As the Risk Manager, you will have the opportunity to shape the bank's risk strategy, drive operational resilience and ensure the long-term success of the business. You'll be joining an innovative and collaborative team with the opportunity to make a significant impact on the Firm's future.
The PJT Risk Manager will collaborate with senior management to identify, assess, mitigate and monitor risks associated with the Firm's activities. This senior role involves formulating and executing risk management strategies and fostering a culture of risk awareness across the Firm. The Risk Manager will work closely with senior management, business units and corporate functions to create/maintain a strong risk culture and ensure sustainable risk management practices. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of financial markets, strong leadership capabilities and experience managing risk frameworks within a financial services environment.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Strategic Leadership and Risk Oversight:
  • Lead the execution of PJT's risk management strategy, ensuring it aligns with business objectives and risk appetite.
  • Oversee and guide the identification, assessment and mitigation of risks, including financial risk, operational risk, regulatory compliance risk and reputational risk.
  • Maintain a robust risk governance framework, driving a culture of proactive risk management across business units and corporate functions.
  • Advise and collaborate with senior management on key risk matters, ensuring timely escalation of critical risks and exposures.

Risk Framework and Reporting:
  • Continuously review and refine risk management policies, procedures and practices to address emerging risks, changes in relevant regulatory framework and expectations and evolving market conditions.
  • Collaborate with senior management on refining the risk appetite statement and related tolerance levels.
  • Prepare regular risk reports for risk committees and board of directors, providing clear, actionable insights on risk trends, exposures and mitigation efforts.
  • Liaise with regulators and auditors to communicate risk management policies, procedures and compliance status.

Crisis Management and Business Continuity:
  • Collaborate with senior management to ensure existence of effective crisis management, business continuity and disaster recovery plans to address potential disruptions.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with senior management, business units and corporate functions (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Finance, Technology) to ensure alignment between risk management and business objectives.
  • Act as an advisor in the development of new products, transactions or strategic initiatives, ensuring that risk considerations are integrated into decision-making processes.
  • Foster cross-functional collaboration to identify potential risks and ensure that risk considerations are integrated into business decisions and strategies.

Qualifications

Requirements
To be considered for the role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years in risk management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role within an investment bank or financial institution.
  • Strong knowledge of financial markets, instruments and products/services.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks such as COSO, NIST and the Three Lines of Defense Model.
  • Proven track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to present complex risk information to senior executives.
  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities, particularly under pressure.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams to address risk across various business lines.

Expected annualized base salary of $175,000- $200,000.
This range represents the low and high ends of the expected annualized base salary for this position. The specific base salary received by any employee will be informed by a number of factors, including but not limited to, role level and scope, location, candidate's relevant qualifications, skills and experience.
Base salary is one component of PJT Partners' compensation structure. In addition to base salary, PJT Partners' compensation structure may include additional rewards, incentives, and benefits, including but not limited to, a discretionary bonus component.
