Position Summary

The Associate Risk Manager supports the administration and execution of the company's enterprise risk management, insurance, safety, and claims management programs. This role works closely with operations, insurance carriers, brokers, third-party administrators, and internal legal counsel to reduce risk exposures, support claims resolution, maintain regulatory compliance, and assist in the management of insurance programs across a national real estate portfolio.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and service-oriented with experience in insurance, risk management, claims administration, or property operations. This position offers an opportunity for professional growth into broader insurance and risk management leadership responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities Insurance Program Administration
  • Assist with the administration of property, casualty, workers' compensation, auto, umbrella, cyber, and management liability insurance programs.
  • Coordinate insurance applications, exposure data collection, underwriting submissions, and policy renewals.
  • Review certificates of insurance, endorsements, and policy documentation for accuracy.
  • Support contract insurance compliance reviews for vendors, contractors, and service providers.
  • Assist with policy interpretation and coverage inquiries from operational teams.
  • Maintain insurance schedules, asset listings, and policy records.
Claims and Incident Management
  • Support the reporting and monitoring of claims involving:
  • General Liability
  • Property Damage
  • Workers' Compensation
  • Commercial Auto
  • Tenant and Resident Injury Claims
  • Coordinate claim documentation, incident reports, and supporting evidence collection.
  • Communicate with carriers, brokers, adjusters, third-party administrators, and legal counsel regarding claim activity.
  • Assist in tracking claim reserves, settlements, litigation developments, and claim closures.
  • Prepare claim summaries and loss run reviews for management.
Risk Analysis and Loss Prevention
  • Analyze loss trends and identify areas for risk reduction.
  • Assist with property inspections, risk assessments, and operational audits.
  • Support development and implementation of safety initiatives and loss control programs.
  • Monitor regulatory requirements and emerging risk issues impacting the organization.
  • Recommend corrective actions based on incident investigations and claims trends.
Compliance and Operational Support
  • Assist with maintaining compliance with insurance requirements, regulatory obligations, and company policies.
  • Support incident response, business continuity, and disaster recovery initiatives.
  • Maintain risk management databases and documentation systems.
  • Coordinate safety and risk management communications with field operations.
Reporting and Analytics
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly risk management reports.
  • Assist with insurance renewal analytics and exposure reporting.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards related to claims, safety, and insurance performance metrics.
  • Support executive and board-level reporting efforts through data collection and analysis.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Legal, Asset Management, and Accounting teams.
  • Assist with training operational personnel on incident reporting, insurance requirements, and risk management best practices.
  • Serve as a resource for field personnel regarding claims and insurance-related matters.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Business Administration, Finance, Safety, or a related field preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
  • Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Property & Casualty Insurance Broker License required.
Experience
  • 3 to 7 years of experience in risk management, insurance, claims administration, brokerage, underwriting, safety, or related fields.
  • Experience within multifamily real estate, manufactured housing, commercial real estate, construction, or property management strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, brokers, TPAs, or corporate insurance programs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Working knowledge of commercial insurance coverages and claims processes.
  • Understanding of risk management principles and loss control practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and reporting systems.
  • Experience with Riskonnect, Origami, or other risk management information systems preferred.
  • Insurance broker experience is a strong advantage.
Preferred Professional Designations and Licenses
  • Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU)
  • Associate in Claims (AIC)
  • Working toward industry designations encouraged
Compensation: $100,000 - $125,000 + 10% annual bonus opportunity The YES Difference
