Job description

As a Lab Technician (2nd Shift) some of the major equipment used are GC, HPLC, and IC to test product, also some wet tests such as moisture, pH, density, etc. You will be responsible for supporting the entire shift of production that runs 24/7/365. Support includes running samples and troubleshooting issues that could arise with equipment, methods, etc.

You will work in the Optical Monomer Laboratory which is located within the Optical Monomer production facility in Barberton, OH. This role will report to the Lab Supervisor. This will be a 2nd shift position - hours will be from 1:00pm to 9:00pm time frame, Sunday-Thursday position. Since this role supports a 24/7 production facility- someone has to be in the lab. Holiday and weekend work (Sunday's) will be required

Responsibilities:

  • Perform independently to support production by running samples and reporting results.
  • Will also troubleshoot equipment, change gas cylinders, make solutions and lift boxes of 50 lbs. or less.
  • Identify and utilize internal or external resources when applicable.
  • Established procedures and guidelines to perform routine laboratory procedures to test the quality of the organizations in- process products, finished products and environmental byproducts.
  • Perform routine quantitative and qualitative chemical analysis to verify process conditions. Record results, perform calculations, and communicate to production.
  • Follow instructions and checklists to set-up equipment and apparatus, mix chemical solutions for use in tests and troubleshooting issues that could arise.
  • Perform routine maintenance and safety checks on laboratory equipment to ensure it is in good working order.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma is required, college degree is preferred
  • 1+ years of educational or professional experience in a lab setting
  • GC, HPLC, and IC chromatography test/instrumentation experience preferred
