Job description

Morton Buildings, Inc. is the industry leader in post-frame construction. We have been in business for 120 years and have more than 10 manufacturing, fabrication, and shipping plants servicing over 100 construction centers nationwide. Per year, across America, thousands of new buildings sport the familiar Morton M.
The Operations Supervisor is a full-time position responsible for ensuring buildings and their components are manufactured and delivered according to the safety and quality standards at Morton Buildings, Inc. The Operations Supervisor will organize and lead building component production in an efficient and profitable manner, while maintaining a culture of safety.

Responsibilities
  • Serves as a safety advocate for Morton Buildings, Inc., exhibiting a constant awareness of safety requirements and promoting safe operations within the production area.
  • Provides direct supervision for hourly production employees in a designated manufacturing facility; including scheduling work assignments, providing on-the-job training to produce high-quality components, and overseeing employees to ensure adherence to company policies, work instructions and procedures, implementing disciplinary actions as necessary.
  • Drives cost-effective manufacturing methods and procedures through a culture of lean to ensure that production is within applicable standards and completed in a timely manner, while monitoring the budget and the availability of materials and supplies.
  • Fosters a team-focused environment through collaboration with local management and other department supervisors, including those in other manufacturing facilities, maintaining standard operating procedures and supporting plant and corporate objectives.
  • Supports talent management for the designated manufacturing facility by participating in the assessment and selection of hourly production personnel and the development of employees through cross-training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience
  • 2 year degree or 5 years of experience in related field
  • Working knowledge of OSHA General Industry, EEOC and DOT regulations
  • Promotes teamwork and demonstrates leadership skills
  • Displays aptitude for teaching and coaching of employees
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven process improvement efforts and results achieved
  • Ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with excellent follow through
  • Dedicated to creating an environment focused on safety, quality, continual process improvement, and profitability
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office including Outlook email, Word, and Excel
