Job description

Introduction
A brand new veterinary hospital opening in Fall 2026 in West Point, Utah is seeking a Lead Veterinarian to lead the development and clinical direction of the practice. This opportunity offers the rare chance to help build a hospital from the ground up while practicing high-quality veterinary medicine within a veterinarian-led organization. The role combines leadership, clinical work, and strategic development, making it ideal for an experienced veterinarian who enjoys shaping hospital culture, mentoring teams, and guiding the growth of a new practice.

Working Hours / Rota
The hospital will operate with a structured daytime schedule designed to support both general practice and urgent care services. The schedule will be developed collaboratively with the incoming Lead Veterinarian to ensure consistent access to care for patients while maintaining a balanced and sustainable working routine for the veterinary team.

Role Description and Responsibilities
The Lead Veterinarian will play a central role in establishing the hospital's clinical standards, team culture, and operational success. This position blends clinical practice with leadership responsibilities, allowing you to deliver high-quality veterinary medicine while guiding the development of a growing veterinary team. Responsibilities include performing general practice medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, and surgery while mentoring veterinarians and support staff as the team expands. The Lead Veterinarian will also help build hospital workflows, foster a collaborative culture, and contribute to hospital growth through strong client relationships and community engagement.

Practice Details
This newly developed veterinary hospital will be part of a growing network of local animal hospitals designed to empower veterinarians with genuine clinical autonomy. The organization focuses on veterinarian-crafted standards of care rather than corporate protocols, ensuring doctors maintain full control over how medicine is practiced. The hospital will provide a mix of general practice and urgent care services, allowing veterinarians to work with a varied and engaging caseload while maintaining a strong focus on preventative medicine and patient wellbeing. Doctors are supported by an experienced leadership network and mentorship resources while maintaining the feel and independence of a locally led practice.

Team
The Lead Veterinarian will lead the development of a new veterinary team, working alongside technicians and support staff to establish a collaborative and supportive hospital culture from the very beginning. The organization emphasizes mentorship, feedback, and shared learning, giving veterinarians access to experienced veterinary partners, clinical leadership support, and structured development programs as the hospital grows.
