Job description

Description
Interested in a career where no two days look exactly the same? If you enjoy being on your feet, working both indoors and outdoors, solving problems, and seeing firsthand how equipment and people keep a business moving, Premier's Operations Internship may be for you.
WHO WE ARE:
Premier Trailer Leasing is a 'USA Today Top Work Place' and one of the largest trailer leasing and rental companies in the nation, specializing in long-term leasing and short-term rental services for over-the-road vans, flatbeds, refrigerated equipment and chassis with an inventory of 70,000 trailers and a growing network of locations across the United States. At Premier you will find an environment where you are seen, heard, and valued. Join us and experience what it means to live a culture of C.A.R.E!
JOB SCOPE:
Our 10-week, paid Summer Internship Program gives college students hands-on exposure to the day-to-day operations of a leading national trailer leasing and rental company. As an Operations Intern, you will learn how a branch manages its fleet, coordinates equipment movement and vendor work, maintains safety and compliance standards, serves customers, and keeps the operation moving efficiently.
This is not a desk-only internship. You will spend time in the office, with customers and vendors, and outdoors in the branch yard learning the equipment and working alongside experienced operations professionals. You will also gain exposure to how branch operations connect with Premier's corporate teams and broader business priorities.
This is a full-time, on-site Intern role from May 31 through August 6, 2027 (8AM - 5PM, Monday through Friday) at our Dallas, TX branch and Plano, TX corporate office.
WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:
  • Fleet and equipment management in a commercial transportation environment.
  • How to inspect trailer equipment for safety, condition, and regulatory compliance.
  • Logistics and coordination of equipment movement between branches, customers, and vendors.
  • Vendor coordination, maintenance workflow, and Premier operating standards.
  • Customer service and the role operations plays throughout the customer lifecycle.
  • How Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, rental/leasing agreements, and other business processes connect to branch performance.
  • How branch operations, customer service, sales, and corporate teams work together to support the business.

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Learn to inspect commercial trailer equipment for safety, condition, and compliance with Federal Highway Guidelines and other applicable industry regulations.
  • Work alongside operations staff to coordinate trailer maintenance and repair work with vendors and help ensure completed work follows Premier policies and procedures.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to fleet logistics by assisting with equipment movement between branches, customers, and vendors.
  • Assist with daily inbound and outbound gate activity and help maintain accurate equipment flow through the branch.
  • Learn trailer specifications and applications to better understand our fleet and support customer needs.
  • Provide support to customers visiting the branch and communicating by phone and email.
  • Assist with customer rental/leasing agreements, insurance review, and related operational documentation.
  • Gain exposure to the financial side of branch operations by assisting with Accounts Receivable collections and Accounts Payable activities.
  • Assist Branch and Corporate teams with projects that support operational excellence, customer service, and business priorities.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Current enrollment in a four-year degree or graduate program. Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, Transportation, or related majors are preferred; students from all majors are encouraged to apply.
  • Rising junior or senior preferred.
  • GPA of 3.0 or greater.
  • Interest in operations, logistics, fleet management, transportation, customer service, or branch leadership careers.
  • Comfort working in both office and outdoor branch-yard environments and willingness to learn about commercial trailer equipment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with attention to detail and a customer-service mindset.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, problem-solving ability, adaptability, time management, and willingness to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to work up to 40 hours per week for the full May 31 - August 6, 2027 internship period with minimum absences.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Because understanding our equipment is an important part of learning Premier's operations, interns will spend time in the branch yard inspecting trailers and learning how equipment moves through the operation.
  • When needed, physically inspect trailers inside and out, including getting in the trailer as well as underneath the trailer.
  • Walk up and down flights of stairs as needed and continually walk the yard.

TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

If you would rather spend your summer learning how a real operation works than sitting behind a desk all day - and you are ready to get outside, solve problems, work with customers and equipment, and learn from an experienced team - we encourage you to apply.
