Job description

Hight Electric CDL Class A Driver

Hight Electric, is a growing logistics company at the forefront of zero-emission transportation. Based in Long Beach, CA, we specialize in port drayage operations utilizing electric trucks.

We are seeking a professional and safety focused CDL Class A Driver to join our team for our night shift operations.

The ideal candidate has port drayage experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to safe and efficient operations.

Position Summary

The CDL Class A Port Drayage Driver is responsible for safely transporting containers to and from the Ports while providing excellent customer service. This role requires adherence to all company policies, DOT regulations, and safety standards while operating company equipment.

Schedule & Routes

  • Night Shift / 2nd Shift Operations
  • Primarily local port drayage routes
  • Home daily
  • Occasional regional routes to AZ, NV, and UT as needed
  • Consistent work

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate company trucks to transport containers to and from the Ports.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Secure and transport loads safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain accurate electronic logs (e-Logs) and required documentation.
  • Communicate professionally with dispatch, customers, and terminal personnel.
  • Ensure timely pickup and delivery of containers.
  • Attend required safety meetings, trainings, and company events.
  • Maintain a clean driving record and properly care for company equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required:

  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL A).
  • Valid TWIC card required.
  • Minimum 2 years experience.
  • Ability to work a night shift schedule.
  • Clean driving record

Preferred Experience:

  • Port container hauling experience.
  • Hazmat and Tanker endorsements preferred.
  • Flatbed experience preferred
  • Experience operating electric trucks is a plus (training provided).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating a commercial vehicle.
  • Ability to walk, stand, bend, kneel, push, and pull as needed.
