What's your day like?

As a new Housing Specialist at EDEN, you can expect a fast-paced and rewarding work environment. Each day will involve engaging with clients to assess their housing needs, providing guidance through the application process, and connecting them with available resources. You will collaborate closely with community partners to ensure that clients receive comprehensive support.

Your daily schedule will be Monday through Friday, allowing you to maintain a healthy work-life balance while actively contributing to the community. Expect to attend team meetings, participate in ongoing training sessions, and use your problem-solving skills to address any challenges that arise. Flexibility and energy will be key as you adapt to the diverse needs of our clients.

What matters most

To thrive as a Housing Specialist at EDEN, candidates should possess strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively support clients in navigating their housing challenges. A high school diploma or GED is required, with an Associate's Degree in Social Services or a related field preferred to enhance your skill set. Having 2-3 years of experience with the Housing Choice Voucher program or other housing assistance programs is highly advantageous, helping you provide informed guidance to clients. Additionally, familiarity with working with the mental health population for one to two years will bolster your ability to empathize and connect with individuals facing various challenges.

Proficiency in relevant software tools is essential to manage case files and track client progress efficiently. Strong problem-solving skills and a customer-centric approach will be crucial for making a positive impact in the community.

Knowledge and skills required for the position are:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.
  • An Associate's Degree in Social Services or related field is preferred.
  • 2-3 years of work experience with the Housing Choice Voucher program or other housing assistance program is also preferred.
