Position Details
The Director of Financial Planning is responsible for delivering financial security to clients through a comprehensive planning process, integrating risk and investment products in alignment with Vertex Capital Planning's philosophy and the specific goals of our clients. The Director of Planning has a high degree of analytical skills while being able to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues regarding the topics of investments, insurance, financial and tax planning strategies for various client situations. This position is located in the Northwestern Mutual - Minneapolis District Office at 601 Carlson Parkway Suite 300 Minnetonka, MN 55305, with in-person hours between 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Create detailed financial proposals using personal planning software while taking client's insurance, retirement, education, investment, and estate needs into consideration.
  • Communicate directly with clients to obtain relevant data points needed to curate custom plans
  • Partner with team leaders to identify opportunities in client financial plans and strategize ways to optimize and improve client strategies
  • Manage client communication including correspondence, notes, files, and maintaining compliant client records
  • Keep up to date on federal regulations, software system enhancements, new products, and compliance changes/opportunities
  • Participate in learning opportunities to deliver on and exceed client expectations in our planning approach

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or related field, preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of strategic financial planning experience
  • Active Series 7, and Series 63 registrations, or equivalent required
  • Active Minnesota Life, Accident, and Health Insurance license preferred
  • CFP, ChFC, or RICP preferred
  • The role title will be reflected as the Director of Planning until an AWMA contract has been approved
