Duties include monitoring and testing different aspects of construction materials.
RESPONSIBILITIES: As a Construction Materials field inspector you will be involved with field observation, testing, sampling and inspection of soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt and structural steel placement. Global will train candidates in our methodology to document findings in accordance with accepted engineering practice, but you should have aptitude, interest and an understanding of construction practices and procedures.
Work Environment: When hired as a field inspector at Global, you will work on active construction sites and perhaps in a soils/concrete testing laboratory. You will get dirty and be exposed to outside weather conditions. We will supply the equipment you need and provide training.
Physical Requirements: This position requires long term standing and perhaps repetitive motions. You must have the ability to use your hands to handle, finger or feel; reach, climb or balance; crouch, stoop, crawl, kneel and sit. You must have the ability to see and smell; including close, distance and peripheral vision, depth vision and ability to focus. Lifting -- You will regularly lift/move/shake up to 40 pounds; frequently lift and/or move up to 60-80 pounds; and occasionally move more than 100 pounds [such as a loaded wheelbarrow of concrete samples].
QUALIFICATIONS:
A minimum of WACEL Concrete and or VDOT Soils and aggregates required.
Strong oral and written communication skills; ability to communicate in English preferred.
