Job description

M1 is looking for an Aircraft Mechanics I (Propulsion) performs organizational and I level maintenance on aircraft propulsion systems. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
• Services, repairs, and overhauls aircraft engines and related systems or components to ensure airworthiness. • Repairs replaces and rebuilds aircraft engines and related components.
• Reads and interprets manufacturer's publications, maintenance manuals, service bulletins, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components. • Assists in the inspection of engines and engine components for fluid leaks, cracks, and other damage. • Assists in troubleshooting, removal, replacement, and repair of aircraft engine system components. • Maintain, test, service, inspect, replace or repair to specification all required systems. • Must be qualified on and work with some ground support equipment, special calibration equipment, and special tools.
• The Aircraft Mechanic I will work on all aircraft systems, beyond their field of expertise by working as a general Aircraft Mechanic I. • Follows directions of higher graded workers. Qualifications and Experience: • High school diploma or the equivalent is required.
• Must have 3 years of Naval aircraft propulsion systems maintenance experience. • Knowledge and use of special tools/equipment required to perform assigned maintenance tasks is mandatory. • May be required to be licensed by Federal Aviation Administration. Military ratings may substitute. • 18 months as a Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI), Quality Insurance Inspector, or Inspector Authorization (IA) as applicable. • Preferred to have 24 months F/A-18 experience within the last 36 months. • Must complete CDI qualification syllabus and all qualifications to obtain CDI within 90 days of employment as applicable. • Thorough understanding of DOD aircraft maintenance processes preferred. Must be able to obtain any additional qualifications or license required to maintain aircraft and qualifications. Must be able to inspect and maintain all company and customer assets, including all assigned Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), in accordance with applicable directives, and ensure that those assets are utilized in a safe, effective and efficient manner. • Must speak, read, write, and understand English. • Obtain/maintain security clearance, DOD CAC privileges, and Special Access Badge requirements. • Must be able to work days, nights, and weekends as required. • Current valid U.S. Driver’s License. • Ability to travel • Must participate in the training and qualification of new personnel. • Must participate in required daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual training and ensure that it is documented in a timely manner.
• Must be willing and able to deal with the customer and company employees in a courteous and professional manner. • Must have a working knowledge of aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications—read, interpret, follow, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications. • Must have working knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations. Working Conditions: • Environment ranges from office to hangar and flight line and requires extensive climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, and walking demands. • Must be physically able to perform duties as assigned and have the ability to lift 50lbs.
