The City of Waco Seeks:
The City of Waco is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer to join our team and play a critical role in developing, designing, reviewing, and executing engineering projects.
Minimum Qualifications;
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
  • Four years work experience in engineering, or project management, two of which have been as a licensed engineer or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License (Registration as a Professional Engineer by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers).
  • Valid Texas Driver's License.

Position Description:
Under general supervision, develops, designs, reviews, and executes engineering projects. Responsible for reviewing development plans, signing and sealing calculations, designs, and reports completed under their direct supervision.
Essential Functions:
  • Manages civil projects (public works, public utilities, traffic, stormwater, and development) through all phases from initial project assignment to completion according to project schedules, budgets, state and federal regulations, and City standards.
  • Serves as Design Engineer for in-house design.
  • Serves as Project Engineer for selected consultant projects and/or construction projects.
  • Prepares plans, specifications, estimates, special provisions, and funding documents.
  • Conducts various meetings including pre-bid, bid openings, and pre-construction.
  • Reviews engineering designs for in-house, consultant, and developer plans.
  • Develops notices, exhibits, and presentations for public meetings.
  • Assist with the development engineering plan review.
  • Operate a City vehicle to perform field inspections of infrastructure and to observe drainage issues in real time. Visit construction and maintenance sites to provide technical guidance on engineering challenges, verify implementation of approved designs, and oversee corrective measures where infrastructure issues are identified.
  • May be required to respond after hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City-wide emergency.
