Director of Code Enforcement
Hiring Range: $80,421.12 - $100,525.88 depends on qualifications
To direct, plan, and administer the operations for the Code Enforcement Division of the Development Services Department
The employee will have the responsibility of:
• Assisting the Executive Director in the administration and supervision of the Development Services Department with direct oversight over Code Enforcement Division
• Enforcing all City ordinances, particularly building and zoning ordinances, environmental ordinances, business license (occupation tax) ordinances, and the false alarm ordinance
• Planning, directing, coordinating, and reviewing the work plans for compliance staff; assigns work activities, projects, and programs; reviews and evaluates work products, methods, and procedures
• Directing, managing, planning, coordinating, and executing the enforcement of state and federal laws as well as local codes and ordinances applicable
• Coordinating and/or conducting field inspections regarding minimum housing standards, unlawful dumping, and related building/structure construction and occupancy standards, documents, and records inspection results
• Preparing and managing the Division's budget, including forecasting funds needed for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors and approves expenditures and implement adjustments
• Researching best practices from comparable municipal governments and code enforcement departments to keep the City abreast of changes and innovations in enforcement practices
• Responding to and handles difficult compliance cases regarding municipal code provisions and effectively communicate City regulations to City officials and the public

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:
• Graduation from an accredited four-year college; Master's degree in preferred; and
• Five (5) years of experience in general construction and related fields; and
• One (1) year if supervisory experience, required; or
• Any equivalent combination or substitution of education and experience on a year-to-year basis
Special Requirements:
• Must have a valid Texas driver's license by date-of-hire
• Must be bondable
