The Level II UT Shearwave Technician is responsible for, but not limited to, the following job descriptions:

  • Reliable to perform shear wave inspection of structural member welds AWS D1.1 tubular and nontubular members API RP 2X levels A, C, and F Ability to size vertical extent of flaws, lengths of flaws, and plot flaws in welds.
  • Proficient with performing shear wave inspection of pressure vessels and piping welds ASME V Article 4 and VIII Appendix 12 B31.3.
  • Proficient with shear wave inspection of pipeline welds API 1104.
  • Perform shear wave inspection of sea going vessels ABS.

Required Qualification(s) & Experience

  • Active holder or previously certified in accordance with SNT-TC-1A Level II UT, MT and PT nondestructive testing methods.
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Required to pass FBI and Company drug/alcohol testing, Fit for Duty testing, Ergonomic testing, and a motor vehicle history performance check.
  • Competent in the codes of ASME V Article 4, VIII Appendix 12 B31.3, API RP 2X levels A, C, and F, and AWS.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in phased array desirable.
  • Has Level II Ultrasonic Phased Array Certification in accordance with SNT-TC-1A or Documented field hours and classroom education that meets or exceeds SNT-TC-1A certification requirements of the Ultrasonic Phased Array method/technique.
  • Advanced educational background.
