Job Title: Propane Tank Painter

Reports To: Energy Manager
Location: Carbondale
Employment Type: Full-Time


Job Summary:

The Propane Tank Painter is responsible for preparing, priming, and painting propane tanks and cylinders to ensure a high-quality, durable finish that meets company standards and safety regulations. This position plays a key role in maintaining the appearance and integrity of tanks for delivery and customer use.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Clean and prepare propane tanks for painting by sanding, grinding, or using chemical solutions to remove old paint, rust, and debris.
  • Apply primers and coatings using spray paint equipment in accordance with company and environmental standards.
  • Ensure proper curing and drying of painted tanks in designated areas.
  • Inspect painted surfaces for quality assurance and make touch-ups as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area, adhering to safety and environmental guidelines, including the handling of flammable materials.
  • Record and label painted tanks properly to ensure traceability and compliance.
  • Assist with moving and positioning tanks using forklifts or other lifting equipment when needed.
  • Perform routine maintenance on painting tools and equipment.
  • Perform all other duties assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Previous experience in industrial painting, metal finishing, or a related field is a plus.
  • Familiarity with spray painting techniques and safety procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy tanks (50-100 lbs) and operate painting and safety equipment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions, with exposure to paint fumes and chemicals.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed outdoors or in a shop setting.
  • May involve exposure to loud noise, paint fumes, and weather elements.
  • Use of PPE such as respirators, gloves, and eye protection is required.
