Job Summary:
We are seeking an experienced Support Engineer with strong commercial drone operations experience to support advanced research and development initiatives within a large enterprise environment. The ideal candidate will have proven expertise operating drones in manual flight conditions and supporting mission planning activities in dynamic field environments. This role requires strong attention to safety, operational readiness, and data collection procedures. Candidates should be comfortable working flexible schedules, supporting offsite operations, and collaborating with engineering and testing teams on innovative aviation technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate commercial drones using remote control systems in field testing environments.
  • Support mission planning, operational readiness, and flight preparation activities.
  • Conduct data collection and assist with testing activities for advanced aviation technologies.
  • Perform lightweight maintenance and inspection activities for drone systems.
  • Travel to offsite testing locations using company provided transportation.
  • Maintain compliance with aviation safety standards and operational procedures.
  • Support variable work schedules including evening and weekend operations when required.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid 14 CFR Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate.
  • Must have at least 2 years of commercial drone piloting experience.
  • Must have experience operating larger commercial drone platforms.
  • Must have strong pre flight planning and operational safety experience.
  • Must have experience flying drones in manual mode without GPS support.
  • Must have professional drone flight experience with at least 50 logged flight hours.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and support extended standing and walking activities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with FPV drone operations.
  • Experience with photography or videography.
  • Experience with Pixhawk flight control systems.
  • Experience with remote control aircraft operations.
  • Experience supporting aviation safety programs.
