Description


Position Overview:

We're a leading global fitness company seeking a talented and hands-on Electronic Project Test Engineer to work in our New Product Development (NPD) team as a specialist to evaluate and resolve potential risk and failure areas. Based on design analysis, use case study, and historical data, this engineer will establish test protocols, design and create test method, set-up and execute tests, obtain and analyze data, then work with the development team on outcomes.


Responsibilities:


New Product Development:

Detailed electronic and key component design review and analysis for potential failure and risk areas

Partnership with hardware, system, mechanical, software, regulatory, and related engineering functions on failure and risk analysis

Test plan development and execution to mitigate design and use risks

Product safety review process and expertise

Thorough understanding and application of regulatory and internal test standards

Product specification review and analysis


Project Engineering:

Support the development team with multiple projects through the New Product Development process

Support the development team for all phase gate deliverables, checklist and ensure completion to company standards

Daily interaction with global development teams on design and testing


Design and Test Engineering:

Development of test standards and procedures

Design and hands-on creation of auto hardware, system and software test, set-ups, and related equipment

Participate in product safety review processes

Obtain and analyze field and user data, develop and execute test protocols for root cause, design and verify solutions

Develop electronic circuits, PCB, system diagram, software and electro-mechanical designs, perform cost analysis, BOM generation and audit

Perform detailed design analysis utilizing engineering electronics, FBD's, FEA, fatigue analysis, and related

Review circuits, PCB, system architecture design and test plans


Production Transition support:

Develop functional requirements and test plans for transition of product into mass production

Train Asia-based engineering and factory manufacturing team on design and test requirements

Requirements


Education:

BS in electronics engineering, or similar


Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of electronic engineering

Well qualified candidates will possess engineering experience with fitness products and strong fitness market knowledge

Expertise with engineering electronics, system design, analysis, debugging, and validation

Experience with ESD, EMC/EMI requirements, power management and mitigation techniques

Experience with embedded system integration and best practices

Proficiency with circuit design, motor and driver system, communication protocols, generator, battery charging, electro-mechanical control systems, and data acquisition, developing tools or systems to proactively find potential risks

Demonstrable experience designing components ensuring products meet safety standards, compliance by designing and executing tests to identify potential hazards and ensure reliable performance, including electrical, surge protect, ESD, EMC/EMI, edge case, reliability and durability tests

Strong FEA, DFMEA, test plan development and execution skills


Other Requirements:

Thorough experience with schematics, PCB and related design analysis tools

Ability and willingness to travel internationally each quarter. It could be more based on the project demands.

Ability and willingness for non-business hours, communication and calls with overseas teams

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Ability to work well with numerous diverse groups and individuals
