The Analytics Analyst is responsible for building, maintaining, and analyzing large-scale datasets that support pricing models and strategic decision-making across property and casualty insurance products.
This role focuses heavily on data engineering, dataset design, and analytical modeling support-serving as a critical bridge between raw insurance data and actionable pricing insights. The analyst partners closely with actuarial, product, underwriting, and analytics teams to ensure pricing models are built on accurate, well-structured, and scalable data.
We are open to hiring at multiple seniority levels for this position, including Analytics Analyst I, II, and III depending on candidate qualifications and experience. The posted compensation range is for the Analytics Analyst II level only. If your qualifications and experience better match another seniority level, this will be discussed further during the interview process.
This is a hybrid work model and requires days in office each week. We are open to hiring for either our Columbus, Ohio or Charleston, WV offices and you must reside within a commuting distance to either.

JOB OBJECTIVE:
Act as internal consultant for business partners throughout the enterprise to enable better business decisions by collecting and integrating appropriate data, building statistical models, and designing solutions for predicting and monitoring the impact of business decisions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Meet with internal analytics consultants or business partners to understand analytics needs and propose solutions.
  • Active understanding of available internal and external data sources, and identify, collect, and integrate data needed to address business problems.
  • Create reports or data views to support business partners.
  • Build predictive models (linear and non-linear regression, decision trees, etc.) of consumer behavior (loss costs, marketing response, conversion, fraud, etc.) or other relevant target variables.
  • Create new solutions or enhance existing tools to simulate and monitor the impact of business decisions.
  • Developing skills in prioritizing, organization, decision making, time management and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to establish priorities, work independently, and proceed with objectives without supervision.
  • Provide clear documentation as part of governance processes.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:
  • Work closely with Data Services unit to maximize value of existing solutions and provide guidance on incorporating new elements.
  • Ad hoc analyses or reporting to support business partners.
  • Improve data extractions and processes that relate to essential functions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Candidate must have B.A. or B.S. with major in mathematics, statistics, economics, actuarial science, or computer science. Other majors may be acceptable depending on mathematics background. Advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of experience in insurance or banking industry in a technical role (actuarial, marketing research, etc.) is preferred.
  • Experienced in working with large data sets using SQL and/or SAS and in conducting regression analyses using SAS, R, or other statistical software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of insurance terminology and ratemaking is preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
  • Experience with data visualization software (Tableau) preferred.
