Business Intelligence & Data Analyst (MIS / AI / Data Operations Lead)
Mission/Purpose
The Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Analyst is a cross functional role responsible for transforming raw operational, engineering, financial, and commercial data into actionable business intelligence that drives decision making across the organization.
This role owns the full data lifecycle, from data extraction and structuring through analysis, reporting, and insight delivery. Unlike traditional analyst roles, this position independently accesses and works with data across systems without reliance on IT for routine data retrieval.
In addition to analytics, this role serves as a bridge between business operations and technical systems, supporting AI adoption, reporting automation, and coordination with outsourced IT resources.
Core Functional Areas
Data Extraction & Mining
  • Write and execute SQL queries (T SQL, SSMS, or equivalent) across ERP, CRM, and internal databases
  • Extract, join, and structure datasets from multiple systems
  • Independently retrieve data directly from source systems
  • Identify relevant datasets to support business questions

Data Management & Structuring
  • Clean, validate, and standardize datasets to ensure accuracy and consistency
  • Maintain data integrity across reporting platforms
  • Support data governance (definitions, mapping, system alignment)
  • Assist in maintaining data structures and data warehouse usability

Business Intelligence & Analytics
  • Analyze datasets using statistical methods, trend analysis, and modeling

Reporting, Dashboards & KPI Development

AI Enablement & Automation Leadership

IT Liaison & Systems Support (Outsourced IT Coordination)
  • Act as internal point of contact for outsourced IT support provider

  • Coordinate issue resolution with external partners
  • Support new hire onboarding setup: user accounts and system access, ERP/CRM permissions, email and hardware/software readiness

Strategic Impact Responsibilities

Skills & Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics/Business Analytics, Management Information Systems (MIS), Computer Science/Engineering, or related field preferred
  • 4 to 5 years of experience preferred in data analytics, business intelligence, or related role
  • High potential candidates with 2 to 3 years of strong, relevant experience may be considered

Technical Skills
  • Advanced to Expert Excel, including Power Query (ETL, data transformation), Power Pivot (data modeling, multi source datasets), and complex formulas and large dataset management
  • Strong SQL proficiency (joins, filtering, query optimization)
  • Power BI (dashboard development and visualization)
  • Experience with ERP systems (Epicor or similar)
  • Experience with CRM systems (HubSpot or similar)
  • Understanding of relational databases and data structures

Preferred / Emerging Skills
  • Experience with data modeling or data warehouse concepts
  • Exposure to AI tools, automation platforms, or workflow optimization
  • Familiarity with scripting (Python, PowerShell, or similar) is a plus
