Description
The Division of Information Technology/Computing and Communications is accepting applications for its IT Technician position.
Examples of Duties
  • Perform hands-on fixes, including installing/upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems.
  • Perform hands-on fixes (via remote access), including installing/upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, including checking and cleaning of computers, laptops. printers and peripherals.
  • Set up new user domain accounts. image and configure new computers and laptops.
  • Support users in the use of computer equipment by providing necessary training.

Typical Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Technology or a related field preferred.
  • 2 years' equivalent work experience in IT Support preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer hardware. including desktops, laptops. printers, wireless access points, networking equipment.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-volume/high pressure environment.
  • Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems (Windows 7 and above; Windows Server 2008 & above).
  • Knowledge of Apple Products (iPhone, iPad, iMac, MacBook Pro, MacBook Air).
  • Experience with Microsoft Active Directory preferred.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with a focus on rapport-building, listening and question skills.
  • Strong writing and documentation skills, proven analytical problem-solving abilities.

Minimum Required Licenses and/or Certifications:
  • CompTlA A+ Certification required.
  • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) Certification preferred.
  • Network + Certification preferred.
  • Security + Certification preferred.
