Medical Billing focuses on submitting claims, following up on payments, and managing patient accounts. While they often work together, coding is more about classification, and billing is about financial transactions.

Yes, insurance companies often hire medical coders to review and assign codes for healthcare claims, ensuring proper billing and reimbursement. These roles typically require knowledge of coding systems like ICD-10 and CPT, and may involve working in claims processing or compliance departments.

What is coding in insurance?

In insurance coding, it refers to the process of translating medical procedures, diagnoses, and services into standardized codes used for billing and claims processing. Will a medical coder be replaced by AI?

Medical coders play a crucial role in translating healthcare diagnoses and procedures into standardized codes, and while AI tools are increasingly used to assist with coding accuracy and efficiency, they are unlikely to fully replace human coders soon.
