Job description

The Claims department at IAT Insurance Group has entry-level openings for Claims Associates located in our Raleigh, North Carolina office starting June 1, 2027. Please note that IAT works on a hybrid schedule, working from the office Monday through Wednesday with the option of working remotely Thursday and Friday.
The Claims Associate participates in a structured rotational training program designed to develop foundational claims handling knowledge and prepare participants for a long-term career within Claims. Through hands-on training, job shadowing, classroom instruction, and real-world claim exposure, Claims Associates gain experience across multiple claims disciplines, including Auto, Property, and Compliance. Upon successful completion of the program, Claims Associates transition into a permanent Claims role that aligns with their interests and strengths as well as IAT's business needs.
As a Claims Associate, you'll make an impact by:
  • Participating in a comprehensive rotational training program across multiple Claims functions.
  • Learning and applying fundamental insurance principles, policy coverage concepts, and claims handling procedures.
  • Assisting in the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of claims under the guidance of experienced claims professionals.
  • Developing an understanding of Auto, Property, and Compliance claim operations.
  • Completing required licensing, compliance, and technical training programs.
  • Participating in job shadowing sessions, workflow demonstrations, hands-on claim handling and other developmental exercises.
  • Reviewing claim documents, reports, photographs, estimates, and supporting materials.
  • Communicating professionally with policyholders, agents, vendors, and internal business partners.
  • Utilizing claims management systems and technology tools to document claim activity and support claim processing.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely claim file documentation.
  • Completing assigned projects, presentations, and capstone activities designed to reinforce learning and professional growth.
  • Demonstrating strong customer service, problem-solving, and time-management skills.
  • Adhering to company policies, regulatory requirements, and fair claims handling practices.
  • Partnering with leadership and mentors throughout the program to identify career interests and determine the best long-term placement within the Claims organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

We're ready to onboard a candidate with:
  • An Associate's degree with 2 years of relevant applicable experience (May 2027 graduates will also be considered).
  • A Bachelor's degree preferred (May 2027 graduates will also be considered).
  • The desire and ability to travel.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, problem solving and analytical skills as well as demonstrated leadership, professionalism, organization and time management.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by employer, now or in the future.

* Current IAT employees must have been in their role for at least six months and must have a satisfactory performance and attendance record to be eligible for the program.
