CLAIMS RECOVERY SPECIALIST III

IMT Insurance is hiring for a Claims Recovery Specialist III to join our Claims team. The Claims Recovery Specialist III is an experienced claims professional responsible for complex, high-exposure subrogation, and recovery matters across all lines of business and jurisdictions. This role independently investigates, negotiates, and resolves recovery claims in compliance with company standards, applicable regulations, and industry best practices. The Claims Recovery Specialist III also serves as a technical resource and subject matter expert for the Claims Recovery Team on liability analysis, arbitration strategy, and recovery opportunities, while mentoring team members and recommending process improvements that drive recovery results. A DAY IN THE LIFE

  • Conduct comprehensive investigations involving complex liability, comparative negligence, coverage, and recovery issues to identify and maximize subrogation opportunities.
  • Independently manage a portfolio of complex and high-dollar recovery files through resolution.
  • Negotiate settlements with adverse carriers, attorneys, responsible parties, and other stakeholders to obtain favorable recovery outcomes.
  • Develop and execute recovery strategies for challenging claims involving disputed liability, multiple parties, coverage concerns, and jurisdictional complexities.
  • Prepare, file, and manage arbitration submissions while defending company positions in arbitration proceedings and pursuing counterclaims when appropriate.
  • Review arbitration decisions and identify opportunities for escalation, appeal, or alternative recovery methods when applicable.
  • Serve as a technical resource for Claims Recovery Specialists and Claims Representatives on liability investigations, recovery strategies, arbitration filings, and claim resolution.
  • Assist management with training, onboarding, and mentoring team members to support departmental development and consistency.
  • Set and maintain appropriate reserves, negotiate settlements within authority levels, and obtain approval for settlements exceeding assigned authority.
  • Partner with Claims leadership, underwriting, legal counsel, collection agencies, and external business partners to resolve complex recovery matters.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of all claim activities, negotiations, correspondence, recoveries, and settlement decisions.
  • Manage diary activities in accordance with department service standards and monitor collection agency performance, recommending escalation or alternative recovery solutions when appropriate.
  • Research and respond to inquiries, complaints, and escalated issues from insureds, claimants, agencies, attorneys, and business partners.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and professional conduct when working with others.
  • Confidentiality and professionalism required at all times.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A bachelor's degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and 5+ years of progressively responsible claims adjusting, subrogation, recovery, or related claims experience.
  • Prior arbitration experience required; industry designations such as AIC, CPCU, ARM, or SCLA are preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of property and casualty claims handling, liability investigation, subrogation principles, and recovery practices, including arbitration processes and applicable state laws impacting recovery opportunities.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex negotiations and conflict resolution, with the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills, including the ability to evaluate large volumes of information, identify trends, and make sound business decisions based on facts, legal considerations, and recovery potential.
  • Excellent verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate difficult, sensitive, or complex information effectively and professionally.
  • Exceptional organization, prioritization, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities through mentoring, coaching, training, or serving as a technical resource.
  • Proficiency in claims management systems, arbitration platforms, and Microsoft Office applications.

The salary range for this position is $55,000.00 - $80,000.00

  • Additional opportunities for income available

Starting salary and level of position will depend on level of experience

This position is not eligible for tips or commission but may be eligible for additional bonuses
