Job description

Orthopaedic Medical Billing & Accounts Receivable Specialist

Bethesda, MD | 100% In-Office

$19.00–$23.00/hour | Up to $24/hour for exceptional candidates

Why This Opportunity Stands Out:

If you are someone who genuinely enjoys the “puzzle-solving” side of medical billing - working denials, fixing claims issues, cleaning up aging AR, and getting accounts resolved correctly - this is a really strong opportunity to join a stable and growing specialty healthcare organization with a supportive team environment.

This is not a revolving-door billing department. The hiring team is being extremely selective and wants people who are reliable, accountable, team-oriented, and looking for long-term stability.

A few things people tend to love about this opportunity:

  • Established specialty healthcare organization with a strong operational infrastructure
  • Collaborative, social office environment without the overly corporate feel
  • Holiday parties, birthday celebrations, potlucks, and team events throughout the year
  • Snacks, coffee, and drinks stocked in the office
  • 401(k) with automatic 3% company contribution (no employee match required)
  • Potential annual profit-sharing contribution
  • Gym access available in the building
  • Convenient Bethesda location near restaurants, shopping, and major commuter routes
  • Leadership values people who take ownership, communicate well, and genuinely care about doing quality work
  • Excellent opportunity for someone with orthopaedic billing experience who wants a more stable long-term home

Key Responsibilities:

  • Submit and manage insurance claims
  • Work denied claims, appeals, and aging AR buckets
  • Investigate reimbursement issues and resolve claim discrepancies
  • Post insurance and patient payments accurately
  • Communicate with insurance carriers regarding outstanding claims
  • Maintain accurate billing documentation and account notes
  • Support overall revenue cycle and accounts receivable operations
  • Work within EHR and electronic billing systems daily

Qualifications:

  • Non-Negotiable Requirements:
    • Minimum 2 years of medical billing experience
    • Orthopaedic billing experience REQUIRED
    • Experience with accounts receivable, denials, appeals, and claim follow-up
    • Stable work history and strong reliability
    • Comfort working onsite full-time in Bethesda, MD
    • Strong understanding of insurance verification, EOBs, medical terminology, and reimbursement workflows
    • Experience with electronic billing systems and Microsoft Office
    • Strong communication and team collaboration skills
  • Preferred (Nice-to-Have):
    • Central Billing Office (CBO) experience
    • Experience with ModMed or similar EHR systems
    • CPC or billing/coding certifications
    • Experience with commercial and government payors

The hiring team is moving quickly for the right person and is prioritizing candidates with strong orthopaedic billing backgrounds and solid tenure.
