We are recruiting for an Underwriting Quality Specialist to join our team. This role will sit hybrid in one of our local offices: Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC, Chicago IL, Dallas TX, Farmington Hills MI, Indianapolis IN, Phoenix AZ, St. Louis MO or Tampa FL.

Position Summary:

The Underwriting Quality Specialist is responsible for assessing the quality, consistency, and compliance of Amerisure's underwriting activities. This role conducts detailed underwriting file audits, identifies trends and root causes, and partners with underwriting leadership and business partners to prioritize findings and drive effective remediation plans. The position plays a critical role in improving underwriting discipline, risk selection, regulatory compliance, and overall portfolio performance.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform regular and ad hoc underwriting quality audits to evaluate adherence to underwriting guidelines, authority levels, documentation standards, and regulatory requirements

  • Review underwriting files for accuracy, risk selection, pricing support, coverage analysis, referrals, and system usage

  • Document audit findings clearly and consistently, including severity, risk impact, and root cause analysis

  • Identify trends, systemic issues, and emerging risks across underwriting teams, products, or regions

  • Partner with underwriting leadership, compliance, training, and operations to develop, prioritize, and track remediation plans

  • Drive accountability for corrective actions by monitoring progress, timelines, and effectiveness of remediation efforts

  • Recommend process improvements, guideline clarifications, training needs, or control enhancements based on audit results

  • Support regulatory, internal, and external audit readiness by providing underwriting quality insights and documentation

  • Prepare audit reports, dashboards, and presentations for leadership, highlighting key risks, trends, and action items

  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of underwriting quality standards, audit methodologies, and scoring frameworks

Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

  • 5 years of Commercial Lines P&C underwriting or underwriting quality/audit experience

  • Experience partnering with underwriting leadership on remediation or process improvement initiatives

  • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, AINS, or similar are a plus

  • Strong knowledge of Commercial Lines Property & Casualty underwriting principles, coverages, and risk evaluation

  • Demonstrated experience conducting underwriting audits or quality reviews in a regulated insurance environment

  • Ability to assess complex underwriting decisions and apply guidelines, authority, and compliance requirements consistently

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, root causes, and risk implications beyond individual files

  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to document findings clearly and professionally

  • Ability to influence without authority and collaborate effectively with underwriters, leaders, and cross-functional partners

  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple audits and remediation efforts simultaneously

  • Attention to detail paired with the ability to think strategically about portfolio-level risk and quality outcomes

  • Comfort presenting findings and recommendations to underwriting leadership

  • Proficiency with underwriting systems, document management tools, and reporting platforms
