Position Summary

We are seeking motivated individuals to join our Agriculture Technology Technician training program, the gateway to a rewarding career in precision agriculture technology. This comprehensive 12โ€“18-month program prepares you to become a certified specialist in one of three career tracks: Technical Account Specialist, Product Specialist, or Integration Specialist. Through hands-on training, mentorship, and progressive skill development, you'll learn to support farmers in implementing cutting-edge technology solutions while building the foundation for a lucrative career in agricultural technology.


This role combines structured classroom training with real-world field experience, allowing you to earn while you learn. We provide all tools, equipment, and training necessary for your success. Upon successful completion of the program, you'll advance to a Level 1 Specialist position with commission-based earning potential ranging from $60,000 to over $85,000 as you progress through your career. With each level of Specialist your earning potential increases incrementally.


Key Responsibilities


Service Delivery & Field Support

โ€ข Assist experienced specialists with equipment installations, system configurations, and field calibrations

โ€ข Perform basic troubleshooting and diagnostics on precision agriculture equipment including GPS receivers, displays, and control systems

โ€ข Conduct preventive maintenance visits and system health checks under supervision

โ€ข Document all service activities, maintaining accurate records of billable hours and work performed

โ€ข Support data collection and analysis services for farming operations


Professional Development & Training

โ€ข Complete structured training modules covering precision agriculture fundamentals, GPS/GNSS technology, and data management

โ€ข Attend manufacturer certification programs for major platforms (John Deere, Climate FieldView, Ag Leader, etc.)

โ€ข Shadow senior specialists during customer interactions to learn consultative selling and relationship management

โ€ข Study product specifications, technical documentation, and industry best practices

โ€ข Participate in hands-on skills labs and simulation exercises


Customer Support & Relationship Building

โ€ข Participate in customer meetings to understand farming operations and seasonal workflows

โ€ข Assist with basic customer training on equipment operation and best practices

โ€ข Respond to technical inquiries under supervision, learning to communicate complex concepts clearly

โ€ข Build relationships with farming customers, understanding their unique challenges and goals

โ€ข Support customer satisfaction initiatives and follow-up activities


Training Program Progression

Our structured training program ensures you develop the skills and knowledge necessary for success as a precision agriculture specialist:

Phase 1: Foundation

Company orientation, safety certification, agriculture technology overview, basic tool proficiency, and initial field observation. Complete fundamental training modules and shadow 10+ service calls.

Phase 2: Skill Building

GPS/GNSS principles, display systems training, basic troubleshooting techniques, and assisted service calls. Complete 25+ assisted calls and achieve 250 billable hours while earning platform certifications.

Phase 3: Applied Learning

Independent simple repairs, data management basics, customer training delivery, and sales observation. Complete 10+ solo service calls, achieve 400 total billable hours, and select your specialist track.

Phase 4: Specialization

Track-specific advanced training, complex troubleshooting, account management shadowing, and transition preparation. Complete specialist prerequisites, achieve 600+ billable hours, and prepare for Level 1 Specialist role.

Requirements:

Minimum Requirements:

โ€ข High school diploma or GED equivalent

โ€ข Valid driver's license with clean driving record (must be insurable)

โ€ข Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions

โ€ข Basic computer proficiency (email, web browsing, data entry)

โ€ข Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills

โ€ข Excellent verbal and written communication skills

โ€ข Willingness to travel within assigned territory (overnight travel may be required)

โ€ข Commitment to complete the full training program


Preferred Qualifications:

โ€ข Associate degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Technology, Agronomy, or related field

โ€ข Farm background or hands-on agricultural experience

โ€ข Experience with GPS technology, precision agriculture equipment, or farm machinery

โ€ข Previous customer service or technical support experience

โ€ข Participation in FFA, 4-H, or agricultural education programs

โ€ข Basic electrical or mechanical troubleshooting experience
