Position Overview

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, the Technical Accounting Manager will be responsible for leading key technical accounting areas, including accounting for debt and equity arrangements, and providing quarterly/annual financial reporting support. This role serves as a critical liaison across Accounting, FP&A, Legal, Treasury and Tax, ensuring appropriate application of U.S. GAAP, and audit-ready documentation. The position also supports emerging accounting issues, prepares technical memos, and drives consistency in accounting policies and processes across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leads the accounting for complex transactions, for, among other things, debt and equity arrangements
  • Preparation of technical accounting memos, related journal entries and account reconciliations for technical accounting issues and when necessary, supporting schedules for financial statement disclosures
  • Monitor new accounting pronouncements and lead implementation of new accounting standards
  • Collaborate with various members of the Accounting team to prepare the Company's annual financial and footnotes, and prepare related audit support
  • Assist in the management of the annual audit
  • Assist in various monthly, quarterly and annual close related activities, including monthly P&L and Balance Sheet review
  • Assist in the preparation of required California ESG reports, including leading all aspects of audit review
  • Leads continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the efficiency, scalability, and effectiveness of technical accounting processes and related internal controls
  • Support SOX compliance by maintaining strong documentation, assisting with internal control design and execution, and responding to internal and external audit requests
  • Partner with Legal and business teams to review significant contracts and determine appropriate accounting treatment, including evaluating agreements for accounting implications and identifies technical accounting considerations
  • Perform special projects and ad hoc analyses as assigned

Qualifications (Required)

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • CPA or working towards CPA
  • 4–6 years of combined public and / or private accounting experience
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general accounting theory
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience with preparation of technical accounting memos, presentations, etc.
  • Experience with financial reporting and external audits
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Big 4 Accounting experience
  • MS or MBA in Accounting
  • Experience working with ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics, or similar)
  • Experience with process improvement or accounting automation initiatives

Pay Range
$115,000—$140,000 USD
