Job description

Rope Access Insulator (Level 1, 2, or 3)

We are looking for a qualified journeyman insulator (Level 1, 2, 3) with an IRATA Certification to join our team on a local long term project working 8.5 hours per day Monday to Friday (7:30am - 4:40pm) within Strathcona.

As part of our organizational philosophy, we like our field workers to have the full understanding of “heat management” This involves knowing the Insulation aspect and be willing to learn the electrical aspect as well. In this role we are looking for an insulator willing to learn the electrical side of heat management and gain skills in a trade different from their own.

The Company

Our services encompass electrical engineering, heat tracing, removable blanket insulation, custom electrical control panels assembly, and industrial rope access – all available in-house. Moreover, we supply all the materials required for the initial build, installation, repair and maintenance.

Role Responsibilities

  • Apply, remove and repair thermal and acoustical insulation (e.g., calcium silicate, glass foam, mineral wool, Styrofoam, fiberglass, armflex) on all types of industrial equipment (e.g. duct piping, heat exchangers, tanks, vessels)

  • Read and interpret drawings and specifications to determine insulation requirements

  • Select the amount and type of insulation to be installed as well as a method of securing the insulation (e.g., pin welding, wiring, banding, taping) according to the type and shape of surface, whether or not the equipment is cold or hot, inside, or outside, and what the equipment is going to be used for

  • Measure and cut insulating material and coverings to the required shape and dimension, as well as fitting insulation around obstructions or shape insulation materials and protective coverings

Role requirements

  • Must be Journeyman Insulator

  • CSTS 2020, WHMIS 2015, and First Aid certifications required.

  • Asbestos experience or certification is considered an asset.

  • Maintain positive relations with clients and coworkers through effective communication conflict management skills.

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, (personal safety as well as others);

  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.

  • Strong time management and organization skills in order to meet various competing deadlines.

  • Ability to work within a team and build a positive team environment.

  • Ability to display sound and accurate judgement.

  • Ability to present a professional image and to encourage subordinates to do the same

  • IRATA Rope Access Level 1, 2, 3 required
