Job Description Step into a hands-on role where you'll learn and apply core laboratory skills in a fast-paced, professional environment. This contract position offers structured training, exposure to industry-standard lab practices, and the opportunity to build a strong foundation for a long-term technical career. About the Role: As a Lab Technician Trainee, you will support day-to-day laboratory operations while developing competency in safe sample handling, chemical preparation, and basic analytical procedures.

Working under the guidance of experienced technicians and supervisors, you'll contribute to accurate test results and reliable data generation. This role is designed to build your technical capabilities and understanding of laboratory safety and compliance standards. Key Responsibilities: Assist with receiving, labeling, and logging incoming samples according to established procedures.

Collect and handle samples from designated sources, ensuring proper containers, preservation, and chain-of-custody documentation. Prepare chemical solutions, reagents, and standards following written procedures and specified concentrations. Set up, clean, and maintain laboratory workstations, glassware, and basic equipment to support daily testing activities.

Follow laboratory safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, safe handling of chemicals, and adherence to OSHA requirements. Support routine testing by preparing samples, organizing materials, and assisting senior technicians as directed. Document work clearly and accurately in laboratory notebooks, logs, and electronic systems.

Participate in housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, organized, and compliant laboratory environment. Key Requirements: Basic understanding of laboratory safety practices and willingness to follow detailed safety procedures. Familiarity with OSHA guidelines or other workplace safety standards, with the ability to apply them in daily tasks.

Experience or exposure to sample collection and handling in a lab, field, or industrial setting. Ability to handle, measure, and mix chemicals accurately and safely. Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions and standard operating procedures.

Comfortable working with repetitive tasks while maintaining accuracy and quality. Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment. Flexibility to work varying schedules or shifts as required by operational needs.

Desirable Skills: Prior experience in an industrial, environmental, or analytical laboratory setting. Exposure to basic laboratory instrumentation and measurement techniques. Familiarity with data entry into laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar software.

Understanding of basic chemistry concepts such as concentrations, dilutions, and units of measure. Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent (required). Coursework or training in chemistry, biology, or related sciences (preferred).

Associate degree or technical certificate in a scientific or technical field (preferred but not mandatory). OSHA or laboratory safety training certifications (advantageous).
