Wage: $51.15/hour
Description:
To provide required behind-the-wheel instruction to operate a class D motor vehicle according to the Minnesota Driver Education Rules. Instructor provides vehicle with safety brake.
Job Summary:

  • Support the District's mission and values at all times.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of current and past participants of the Driver's Education Program.
  • Teach behind the wheel driver to novice or beginning drivers, of all ages.
  • Conduct each lesson with all concern for DRIVING SAFELY.
  • Observes student's driving ability and provide constructive feedback to help improve driving skills.
  • Develop skills and abilities necessary to carry out assigned duties by attending meetings, in-service trainings, and other opportunities when scheduled.
  • Maintain communication and professional customer service toward parents, staff participants, and the general public as a representative of Elk River Community Education Driver's Education Program.
  • Attend all required staff meetings.
  • Complete and submit required paperwork and documentation in a timely manner as assigned by the Coordinator.
  • Report any concerns or problems to the Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must possess a current, not expired, Minnesota Teaching License.
  • Must possess a valid, unexpired Traffic Safety Education certificate.
  • Must possess a valid class D Driver's License for 3 years.
  • Must provide own vehicle with safety brake for Behind-the-Wheel instruction.
  • Must maintain required amount of vehicle insurance for the vehicle used for Behind-the-Wheel training.
  • Must be able to work with individuals with a wide range of skills.
  • Must have knowledge of the classroom curriculum for class D motor vehicles.
  • Must have good organizational skills and demonstrate dependability, promptness, and punctuality.
  • Must be able to work independently.
  • Must possess effective oral and written communication skills.

Schedule:

  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule; schedule set by driving instructor and student demand.

    • Positions can be combined for employee to work a total of 40+ hours per week between a combination of hours as classroom instructor and Behind-the-Wheel instructor.
