Job Description:

POSITION: EMS Instructor

LOCATION: Clarkesville & Blairsville Campuses

DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, the instructor will demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques, testing, and grading procedures, to include proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record keeping required.They must demonstrate knowledge of current procedures in the Paramedic/EMT field and demonstrate the effective use of oral and written communication skills. The instructor will follow the approved course syllabus, monitor students' use of supplies, materials, and equipment, and ensure safety and security requirements are met in the training area.They will also advise and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records on each student.They will be required to attend meetings, as appropriate, maintain current knowledge of trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferences, and maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia Policy Manual.The instructor must follow rules and regulations as described by TCSG and other policies and procedures established by North Georgia Technical College.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Georgia AEMT or Paramedic certification
  • Current Licensed Georgia Level II EMS Instructor certification
  • Two (2) years' work experience within the last three (3) years as an AEMT or Paramedic
  • Valid driver's license and required insurance
  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Basic Microsoft Suite proficiency including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent customer service skills to deal professionally with NGTC employees, students, and visitors

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Current Licensed Georgia Level III EMS Instructor certification
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support Instructor certification
  • ACLS/PALS and PHTLS instructor certification
