The UMO School of Physical Arts is a program of Open Space offering classes in aerial, acro gymnastics, parkour, skateboarding, and Jiu Jitsu. UMO School serves over 160 students, youth through adults, for 9 months of the year with performances in the winter and spring. This program seeks to inspire creative possibility and recognize students' creative force by giving them a safe place to learn and a variety of tools based on UMO Ensemble's dynamic physical theatre.
Open Space seeks UMO School Instructor Assistants to work under the direction of UMO School Instructional Specialists and Associate Instructional Specialists during UMO School classes (aerial, parkour, skateboarding, and/or acro balance) throughout the class week. UMO School Instructor Assistants help with group class management and help ensure proper safety in the classes.
Primary Job Duties:
- Assist with group class management and ensure proper safety in the classes.
- Assist Instructional Specialists and Association Instructional Specialists to set up/take down classroom equipment
- Assist with cleaning of equipment and mats as needed
- Assist at UMO School front desk
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Embrace the mission, vision, core competencies, and values of Open Space for Arts & Community
- Be punctual and reliable
- Experience working with children
- Aerial, parkour, skateboarding, and/or acro-balancing experience
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills
- Be a legal resident of Washington State
Schedule and Compensation
This is a short-term, hourly, non-exempt position that does not include health, dental, or vision benefits. Hourly rate will be commensurate with experience.
