Job description

Job Title: Electrical EngineerJob Description

This role focuses on hands-on debug, testing, and maintenance of electronic assemblies and printed circuit boards (PCBs) within a manufacturing environment. The Electrical Engineer supports production test operations, resolves technical issues, and collaborates closely with test engineers and leadership to improve processes, enhance product quality, and maintain reliable test equipment.

Responsibilities
  • Debug and test electronic assemblies down to the component level using block diagrams and schematics.
  • Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and upkeep of test equipment and testers to ensure reliable operation.
  • Troubleshoot operator-reported problems, identify root causes, and work with leadership on training and process improvements.
  • Provide training, guidance, and ongoing technical support to Test Operators to ensure accurate and efficient testing.
  • Communicate technical issues, test failures, and recurring problems clearly to Test Engineers and leadership.
  • Assist in conducting experiments for failure analysis and root cause analysis to improve product and process reliability.
  • Recommend additional equipment, tools, and resources needed for product debug areas to enhance efficiency and capability.
  • Participate actively in Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen continuous improvement activities to optimize processes and reduce waste.
  • Follow and comply with all company security policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned to support production and engineering needs.
  • Work on problems of limited scope by following standard practices and procedures to analyze situations or data and obtain solutions.
  • Build and maintain stable working relationships with internal teams, including production, test, and engineering.
  • Learn and apply professional engineering concepts and company policies to resolve routine technical issues.
  • Follow detailed instructions on work assignments while developing increasing independence over time.
Essential Skills
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience soldering on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience testing PCBs.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, block diagrams, and blueprints.
  • Hands-on experience with electronic test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, and other test instruments.
  • Proficiency in soldering and reworking electronic components on PCBs.
  • Experience with electrical and electronic troubleshooting and debugging.
  • Familiarity with electrical engineering concepts and electronic assembly processes.
  • Ability to use basic hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in testing, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with test engineers, operators, and leadership.
  • Ability to follow standard procedures, work instructions, and company policies.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in a related technical field or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
  • Interest in and willingness to perform hands-on technical work in a production test environment.
  • Experience with PCB design concepts and design practices.
  • Exposure to or participation in Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to support training activities and mentor test operators on proper testing and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Capability to assist with failure analysis and root cause investigations for electronic products.
Work Environment

This position is fully on-site in a manufacturing setting in Rochester. The role involves working in a production test and debug area with electronic assemblies and PCBs, using equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, test fixtures, and various hand and power tools. Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $32.20/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
