Job Purpose
The Institutional Products department markets Guaranteed Investment Contracts (GICs), Funding Agreements, and Medium Term Notes (MTNs) to institutional investors, allowing the Company to opportunistically deploy capital when returns are attractive and to increase business diversification by leveraging its core competencies of asset generation and risk management. The Sr. Managing Director, Head of Institutional Products is responsible for a broad range of functions in managing the institutional business, including oversight of the Institutional Products team and primary oversight of client, peer, and investment bank relationships.
Essential Responsibilities
  • Interfaces with Jackson's well-established global institutional client base and dealers' network, as well as peers within the industry and within Jackson.
  • Oversees underwriting and pricing traditional GIC bids.
  • Oversees GIC sales process including negotiation and confirmation of terms with clients, contract issuance and documentation, record creation in the administrative system, and wire payments authorization for deposits, interest payouts, withdrawals, and maturity payments.
  • Coordinates documentation of MTN transactions with the Legal department, outside legal counsel, and Auditors.
  • Ensures all contracts and legal documents are filed with the appropriate state, as needed, and are compliant with state and federal insurance regulations.
  • Defines and executes a PRT product strategy to achieve growth and profitability targets.
  • Monitors and analyzes regulatory changes and requirements in the institutional landscape. Ensures ongoing compliance reporting requirements are met.
  • Oversees the process of producing and analyzing financial projections for the institutional business.
  • Stays abreast of capital markets conditions and changes in the institutional competitive environment.
  • Manages complex projects related to Institutional Products.
  • Completes various critical monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and updates.
  • Approves and oversees for underwriting and pricing traditional GICs, risk analysis, financial modeling, liability-related administrative duties, and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Reviews and certifies quarterly results and controls, in support of the financial reporting process.
  • Coordinates with Financial Planning & Analysis on the annual planning process.
  • Coordinates with Actuarial on pricing, liability accounting/valuation, new sales strain and other matters.
  • Coordinates with Treasury and PPM regarding available cash, investment strategies, etc.

  • Performs other duties and/or projects as assigned.

  • Broad knowledge and business acumen in the Institutional Products arena.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deal driven, and team-oriented environment.
  • Broad insurance and business background covering a wide variety of functions.
  • Knowledge and practical experience working with MTN programs.
  • Knowledge and practical experience implementing a PRT strategy.
  • Knowledge of federal and state insurance regulations and requirements.
  • Proven ability to solve problems and to manage complex issues.
  • Self-starter and results-oriented individual with a focus on problem solving and execution excellence.
  • Impeccable attention to detail, ensuring accuracy to minimize risk and exposure to the Company.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to leverage resources and to meet time and quality requirements.
  • Excellent collaboration and negotiation skills.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related field of study required.
  • 15+ years of broad insurance experience, including investment, asset-liability management, financial modelling and risk analysis required.
  • 10+ years of experience working with institutional products required.
  • Experience working with MTN programs and transactions strongly preferred.
  • Experience with risk underwriting, contract issuance and compliance for institutional products and PRT preferred.
  • FSA or CFA professional designations preferred.

Base Pay:
$275,000.00 - $325,000.00. The base salary for this position may vary depending on experience, job-related knowledge, skills, and abilities. In addition to the base salary, this role will be eligible to participate in our annual bonus program and may be eligible to participate in our long-term incentives program. This role will also be eligible for compensated personal time off and holidays, health benefits, 401(k) plan with generous matching and other benefit programs according to the Company's employment policies and subject to the formal terms of such plans and programs.
