Introduction
The Dean provides collaborative leadership for college-wide institutional effectiveness efforts, including strategic planning, accreditation, institutional research, learning outcomes assessment, and continuous quality improvement. The Dean also provides leadership and expertise in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of institutional effectiveness initiatives, supports evidence-based decision-making, and advances student success and equitable outcomes through the effective use of data, assessment, and institutional research.
Job Description
Los Angeles Trade-Technical College (LATTC) announces an opening for a full-time Dean of Institutional Effectiveness. The Dean provides collaborative leadership and expertise in the planning, implementation, and assessment, and continuous improvement of LATTC's Educational and Strategic Master Plan, institutional effectiveness initiatives, accreditation self-evaluation and reporting, learning outcomes assessment, program review, institutional research, and other student success and equity strategies. The Dean fosters a culture of evidence-based decision-making by working collaboratively with faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and participatory governance groups to support continuous quality improvement and institutional effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Master's degree (from U.S. Department of Education recognized accredited institutions). *
  • At least one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the assignment.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides leadership in the planning, review, revision, and evaluation of the Strategic Educational Master Plan.
  • Provides leadership in the management of college-wide planning efforts while establishing a college culture of institutional effectiveness, continuous improvement, and evidence-based decision-making.
  • Works with the faculty accreditation co-chair and accreditation liaison officer to facilitate the institution's accreditation self- evaluation process, preparation of reports, and ongoing compliance with ACCJC standards.
  • Collaborates with Student Learning Outcomes Faculty Leads to support the review, assessment, and continuous improvement of outcomes for all instructional and non-instructional programs.
  • Collaborates with college leadership to support the college's program review process, resource allocation process, strategic enrollment plan, and the college integrated planning process.
  • Collaborates with Accreditation Coordinator and college stakeholders to support accreditation, institutional planning, and student success initiatives by providing research, data analysis, performance metrics, and evidence-based recommendations that inform institutional decision-making.
  • Provides collaborative leadership in institutional accountability measures and key performance indicators for student access and success.
  • Provides data and performance measurement support to individuals that review programs, accreditation, and compliance.
  • Researches and analyzes trends in education for use as a resource by the president, vice presidents, deans, and faculty for curriculum development, student achievement measures, and to support strategic decision-making.
  • Provides support for the conduct of feasibility studies for new curricula, programs, facilities, and other services that enhance student success.
  • Develops and directs institutional research analysis and resulting reports; submits to national and state organizations and agencies, as required.
  • Presides over data analysis and trend monitoring, including the development of institutional performance measures and dashboards to monitor progress towards strategic goals.
  • Leads institutional analyses that identify achievement gaps and supports strategies to improve equitable student outcomes.
  • Performs research studies used to support instructional development and course and program evaluations.
  • Establishes the appropriate quantitative and qualitative research design and statistical tools to be used in program review and college-level planning.
  • Provides guidance to administration, faculty, and staff to develop and construct reliable and valid educational research methods and tools.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collegially with faculty, classified professionals, administrators, and other college stakeholders in meeting institutional research and planning needs.
  • Demonstrated experience working within and understanding the roles of all constituencies in participatory governance.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in planning, organizing, developing, and maintaining complex reports and initiatives that support institutional planning, assessment, research, and institutional effectiveness.
  • Demonstrated experience with advanced research methods, statistical analysis, data visualization, and data management.
  • Demonstrated experience developing institutional dashboards, key performance indicators, and executive reports to support evidence-based decision-making.
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate and support diverse groups, exercise leadership in areas of primary responsibility, and present research findings and recommendations effectively to a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated understanding of data governance, data integrity, and ethical data use. Demonstrated personal characteristics necessary for working with students, employees, and the public in an administrative capacity, including integrity, good judgment, professionalism, high ethical standards, tact, and ability to foster collaborative working relationships with all members of the college community.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students. Demonstrated commitment to advancing equitable student outcomes through the use of disaggregated data, assessment, and evidence-based practices.

Salary and Benefits
The basic salary range is from $175,836 to $206,448. The doctoral differential is $524 per month. An exceptional benefits package which includes medical, vision, dental and life insurance is available for the employee and eligible dependents.
