Position: Electrical Helper

 Charleston, SC Area


POSITION SUMMARY

As an electrical helper, you will assist electricians and other crew members in the installation of electrical systems and components. Duties include working with tools, installing conduit, wire, junction boxes, electrical lighting and other labor activities as assigned. Must keep all materials, tools, and equipment in an orderly fashion, maintain a clean work area at all times, demonstrate safe work habits and exhibit proper care of all tools and equipment.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Start and proceed with the process of learning the electrical trade
  • Bend and install conduit systems and pull wire
  • Install light fixtures and connect to branch power
  • Perform other activity as instructed by the foreman/crew leader
  • Gather and transport required tools and materials to their assigned work areas
  • Provide assistance to more skilled workers involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and components.
  • Learn and retain specific job-related tasks that are taught by more skilled employees
  • Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit and moving and lifting heavy objects.
  • Perform work from ladders, scaffolds, and aerial lifts
  • Must be a team player
  • Be dependable and prompt when scheduled to work
  • Practice safe working habits as directed by the Adams Safety Program
  • Maintain the required hand tools as shown in the Adams Electric Helpers' tool list

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

 

 Education, Training and Certifications

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED); or equivalent studies
  • OSHA 10
  • Previous electrical work experience preferred

Working Conditions

  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required (Hard hat, vest, protective eye wear, safety boots.)
  • Work is performed indoors and outdoors, often exposed to the natural elements of cold, heat, moisture, and wind.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements and background screening process
