The Opportunity

This role is a strong fit for an experienced labourer who wants consistent, local work while building deeper expertise in underground utilities and civil infrastructure. You'll be part of a field crew responsible for installing and maintaining critical systems, working alongside operators, pipelayers, and forepersons to keep projects moving safely and efficiently.

We are seeking candidates with experience in shallow utilities, deep utilities, sewer and water infrastructure, trenching, and pipe installation who are ready to contribute on active job sites across Calgary.

What You'll Do

  • Support installation of underground infrastructure including water mains, sewer mains, storm systems, shallow utility conduits, services, valves, hydrants, and related systems
  • Assist with deep utility excavations, trench support, tie-ins, grade adjustments, and repairs across active job sites
  • Perform pipelaying duties, including aligning pipe, checking grade, assisting with laser setup, and installing bedding/backfill
  • Contribute to PRV chamber, valve chamber, and manhole installations using PVC, HDPE, concrete, and related materials
  • Perform trenching support, bedding, compaction, and backfill to ensure quality and safety standards are met
  • Work closely with operators and crew leads to maintain productivity and meet project timelines
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe job sites, including material handling and site setup/cleanup

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in civil construction, underground utilities, sewer and water, pipelaying, or shallow/deep utility projects
  • Hands-on familiarity with water mains, services, manholes, valves, PRVs, PVC, HDPE, storm systems, or sanitary systems
  • Experience working in trenches and around excavators, loaders, and compactors
  • Strong commitment to safety and proven safe work habits
  • Valid Class 3 or Class 5 Driver's License with a clean abstract
  • Physically capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work effectively as part of a crew

Assets (Nice to Have)

  • Safety certifications such as First Aid, Ground Disturbance, H2S, or CSTS
  • Experience reading grades, drawings, or utility plans
  • Experience using lasers, pipe levels, or grade rods
  • Experience around heavy civil crews and underground utility installations
