Key Position Details:
  • Position will be based out of Cottage Grove but will travel to Allina Health Clinics within Twin Cities Area for project based work
  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per two-week pay period)
  • 10-hour day/evening/night shifts
  • Occasional weekends

Job Description:
Performs skilled journeyman level installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial flooring systems within a healthcare environment. Ensures flooring systems that support patient care areas are installed to the highest level of safely, durability, and hygiene. Work is completed in compliance with manufacturer requirements, infection control standards, and regulatory guidelines while minimizing disruption to clinical operations.
Principle Responsibilities
  • Installs, repairs, replaces, and maintains healthcare grade flooring systems including sheet vinyl, LVT/LVP, rubber flooring, carpet tile, and specialty resilient flooring.
  • Prepares subfloors by cleaning, grinding, leveling, patching, and repairing surfaces to meet healthcare and manufacturer specifications.
  • Performs heat welding, flash coving, seam sealing, and integral base installation to ensure hygienic and watertight finishes.
  • Removes existing flooring materials using appropriate dust control and infection prevention procedures.
  • Coordinates work with clinical staff, infection prevention, facilities engineers, and contractors in occupied healthcare environments.
  • Documents work performed, inspections, materials used, and repairs in the CMMS.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience needed to meet required principle competencies as listed on the job description
  • Vocational Training/Apprenticeship-Flooring installation or construction trades
  • 3+ years experience as a commercial flooring installater

Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years experience Healthcare flooring experience in hospitals or healthcare settings

Licenses/Certifications
  • Valid Driver's License required upon hire - MN and WI residents must obtain a valid driver's license in their state of residence within 60 days of employment
  • Manufacturer Flooring Certification preferred upon hire - One or more of any manufacturers flooring certifications i.e. Armstrong, Forbo, and Tarkett

Physical Demands
  • Very Heavy Work:
  • Lifting weight excess of 100 lbs. occasionally, over 50 lbs. frequently

Pay Range
Pay Range: $35.61 to $48.81 per hour

Your starting rate would depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, your experience, education, and the union agreement (if applicable). Shift, weekend and/or other differentials may be available to increase your pay rate for certain shifts or work.
