At Fort Rucker, AL, SA-TECH provides Range Operations and Maintenance (O&M) support services for live training of the Aviation Gunnery Range Complex (AGRC) for the Aviation Center of Excellence and Fort Rucker Military Installation. We also provide O&M Core Services that enable management and maintenance of training areas and ranges by integrating mission requirements with environmental requirements and sound land management practices under the Installation Management Command (IMCOM) Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization, and Security (DPTMS) Directorate. The Fort Rucker Range and Training Complex encompasses roughly 60,000 acres across the Alabama counties of Dale and Coffee.
We are currently hiring a Construction Helper (Maintenance Trades Helper) at the Fort Rucker Gunnery Range Complex at Fort Rucker, AL.
The Construction Helper assists other skilled workers by keeping workers supplied with materials and tools; cleaning work areas, machines, and equipment; assisting journeyman by holding materials or tools; and performing other unskilled tasks as directed by journeymen. The kind of work the helper is permitted to perform varies from trade to trade. In some trades the helper is confined to supplying, lifting, and holding materials and tools, and cleaning working areas and in others, the worker is permitted to perform specialized machine operations, or parts of a trade that are also performed by workers on a full-time basis.
Basic job functions include (but are not limited to):
  • Constructs and repairs training support items on ranges and training areas; studies specifications; measures, marks, and cuts boards using patterns, templates, rulers, pencils, and hand and power saws.
  • Fastens or installs parts using hammers, nailing machines, or power staplers; repairs defective training aids by replacing damaged parts and inserting wood bracings.
  • Builds wall facades and target frames using rulers, hand tools, and pneumatic nail guns.
  • Fabricates, repairs, modifies, and replaces woodwork training structures and applies preservatives to prolong wood life.
  • Performs general maintenance repair to buildings, structures, fences, concrete, asphalt pads, range support facilities, LRC obstacles, and similar training support structures.

Work Conditions:
  • Conditions will vary as work will be performed indoors and outdoors, with temperature variations.
  • Work will consist of 35% standing, 40% walking, 5% stooping, 10% reaching, 10% lifting.
  • Ability to perform under rugged conditions and lift items up to 40 lbs. alone, or more than 40 lbs. with assistance.
  • Normal Working hours are Monday - Friday, 0600 - 1430 hours.

Requirements
Education/Experience/Skills:
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in construction and maintenance.
  • Current Driver's License required; must be able to be insured through company's vehicle insurance policy while driving work/government/rental vehicles during working hours, and for the duration of employment.
  • U.S. Citizenship required and you must be able to obtain a U.S. DoD NACI Clearance prior to start date and maintain that clearance throughout employment.
  • All candidates will be required to pass background screening to include SSN, Driver Record, and Criminal Background Investigation.
  • ** All employees will be subject to pre-employment drug screening. Any offer of employment shall be contingent on successfully passing a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
