Job description

JOB SUMMARY: The Installation Technician installs REV's fiber network (television, internet, phone services, etc.) on customer premises.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: (include but are not limited to)
  • Carries out daily activities as directed by Dispatch Center, supervisor, coordinator or manager; works/communicates with all parties to coordinate
  • Efficiently manages productivity; reports to scheduled appointments punctually
  • Removes telecommunications and related equipment, according to service/job order specifications, standards, and procedures
  • Fluidly operates electronic devices such as PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones
  • Maintains and reports accurate records of hours and materials used; coordinates with Accounting, Customer Service and other departments on service installations and changes to update records
  • Processes detailed paperwork and/or electronic records
  • Reports and monitors service/job order changes
  • Terminates various low voltage wiring including RG-6, RG-59, RG-11, Cat-3, Cat-5, Cat-6, and speaker wire
  • Uses wire trouble shooting tools such as tracer/toner and continuity testers, DSAM meters, Sidekick 7B meters, and volt meters
  • Reads product material for product knowledge advancement
  • Understanding of frequency response
  • Works outside of normally scheduled work hours as needed
  • Works extended hours during natural disasters or emergency scenarios
  • Must be a skilled driver with the ability to drive a vehicle with a manual shift

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • Perceives color and depth accurately
  • Possesses reading, writing, mathematical, and comprehension skills; requires legible printing talent
  • Ability to operate mechanical and electrical equipment including PCs, laptops, tablets, and smartphones
  • Knowledge of all services offered by REV Broadband, regulatory industry standards and procedures, and new technology
  • Proper telephone manner

  • Understands basic electronics, specification sheets and circuit diagrams
  • Follows established safety procedures, policies, and work rules
  • Expands upon job skills through seminars, workshops, and on-the-job training
