Position Summary

Assist skilled craftsperson(s) by performing supportive duties as directed and will work under immediate supervision. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience and assigned job step.

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

ย ย  ย Learn to read isometric drawings, taking measurements, fabricating and installing piping efficiently
ย ย  ย Assist skilled craftsman to align, bolt, and clamp together components of fabricated metal products to secure in position for welding
ย ย  ย Assist with the assembly and securing of pipes, tubes, fittings, and related equipment according to specifications by welding and threading joints
ย ย  ย Position and secure materials and workpieces during installation; and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications
ย ย  ย Learn to distinguish varying thickness and types of metal materials
ย ย  ย Learn to manually handle and securely apply rigging equipment
ย ย  ย Operate tools and equipment including: beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, and a Saw-Zall
ย ย  ย Layout and install equipment, vessels, skids, pumps, pipe, and supports
ย ย  ย Assist with hydro testing piping systems

Qualifications

ย ย  ย May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area.
ย ย  ย Must possess knowledge skills and abilities for position
ย ย  ย Ability to understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision
ย ย  ย Field experience in chosen craft discipline
ย ย  ย Knowledge of the safe and efficient use of hand tools, power tools and layout tools.

Requirements
ย  ย The person in this position needs to constantly move about a construction/industrial site, so should be able to stand, walk, sit, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
ย  ย Constantly works in a construction environment and will be exposed to changing outdoor weather conditions
ย  ย Work irregular hours, weekends, overtime and holidays as required
ย  ย May be required to use ladders/mechanical platforms/manlifts/scaffold to access required equipment/work areas (may exceed 200 feet), so must be able to climb and maintain balance on formwork, steel formwork, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
ย  ย Move and work in and around confined and cluttered places, and uneven surfaces
ย  ย Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy and dusty environment
ย  ย May be required/able to move items weighing up to 50 pounds across construction/industrial site
ย  ย Must have all required tools
ย  ย U.S. Driver's License may be required
ย  ย Observe and comply with all safety and project rules, perform other duties as required
ย  ย Ability to pass pre-access drug, alcohol and fit-for-duty testing
