Job description

The Lead AV Tech/Commissioner

Reports To: Installation Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead, coordinate, and prioritize daily project-related activities and field operations

  • Supervise, mentor, and support field technicians during the installation and commissioning of AV systems

  • Collaborate closely with the Installation Manager and Project Engineer to understand project scope, address site challenges, and ensure successful project execution

  • Ensure all installations comply with project specifications, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation

  • Configure and program control systems, DSPs, audio mixers, and other specialized AV equipment as required by system design

  • Install, integrate, and maintain AV/IT systems including racks, displays, projectors, cameras, VTC systems, microphones, and speakers

  • Perform system commissioning activities including testing, calibration, troubleshooting, and quality assurance verification

  • Diagnose and resolve technical and performance issues related to AV/IT system configurations

  • Provide end-user training and operational documentation upon project completion

  • Maintain accurate redline documentation and system configuration records for final customer deliverables

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with experience managing teams of five or more technicians

  • 10+ years of experience in AV installation and construction methodologies

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in AV commissioning and system testing

  • Strong knowledge of AV signal processing, networking, and control system programming

  • CTS, CTS-I, or equivalent industry certification preferred

  • Extensive experience with DSPs, control systems, and network-based audio/video distribution technologies

  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage customer expectations effectively
