Full Steam Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated QA Tech Lead to oversee daily quality assurance activities while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. This role is responsible for leading QA Technicians, monitoring production processes, performing quality inspections and testing, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who promotes food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and teamwork while maintaining the highest quality standards.


Position: QA Technician Lead

Location: Merced, CA

Pay: $22.40/HR

Schedule: Must be available to work 1st and 2nd shifts; the schedule will include weekdays and weekends, with varying days off.


Position Overview

Full Steam Staffing is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated QA Tech Lead to oversee daily quality assurance activities while ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards. This role is responsible for leading QA Technicians, monitoring production processes, performing quality inspections and testing, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who promotes food safety, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and teamwork while maintaining the highest quality standards.


Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform and document quality sampling, inspections, and evaluations of raw materials, work-in-progress, and finished products according to established SOPs using the Parity System.
  • Conduct aseptic sampling at designated intervals for physical, chemical, and microbiological analyses.
  • Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs), magnets, and food safety programs to ensure compliance.
  • Calibrate laboratory equipment and maintain calibration records.
  • Identify non-conforming products, notify Production Leads and Supervisors, and place affected products on hold when necessary.
  • Review QA test plans and electronically review and approve quality records.
  • Assist with investigations related to customer complaints, supplier issues, and product quality concerns.
  • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) as needed.
  • Complete special projects involving data analysis, research, and data entry accurately and on time.
  • Train and mentor new QA Technicians and assist Production Leads/Supervisors with GMP and safety orientations.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the QA laboratory while ensuring accountability for tools and equipment.
  • Lead by example by promoting GMP compliance, food safety, professionalism, and effective communication.
  • Provide guidance and support to QA Technicians while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Previous experience in Quality Assurance within a food manufacturing or food processing environment required.
  • Working knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP).
  • Ability to perform physical, chemical, and microbiological sampling and testing.
  • Experience with quality documentation, inspections, and recordkeeping.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively leading a team.
  • Basic computer skills and experience with quality management systems are preferred.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedules, including weekends and varying shifts.


Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work in refrigerated or food production environments.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive movements throughout the shift.
